We're Wishing Patrick Dempsey Luck At Le Mans!
UPDATE (Sunday, June 23): The race is over and Dempsey Del Piero Racing took a competitive fourth-place in the GTE-AM Category at the 90th Anniversary 24 Hours of Le Mans! Congratulations to the all-American team of Patrick Dempsey, Patrick Long and Joe Foster on this fantastic finish at Le Mans!
Did you know that Patrick Dempsey, in addition to being an in-demand, A-list actor, is also a world class racer? Well, it's true. He's chosen to tackle the tough job juggling the demands of being a working actor, husband, father, and active racer whose dream to race in the famous 24 hour Le Mans is about to come true.
His journey to get to this year's Le Mans is the subject of a gripping four part special, Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans airing on Velocity August 28th at 10|9c. But - and this is the exciting part - the story isn't finished yet. Dempsey is part of the only all-American trio at Le Mans this year, and will pilot the No. 77 Dempsey Del Piero-Proton Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in the GTE Am class . The car will start seventh after Thursday's qualifying round. Not his first time at Le Mans, Dempsey has earned this shot and we'll chronicle what happens for our audience.
All of this has us on the edge of our seats here at Velocity. We love a guy with passion who doesn't say "all this is too hard." He's tackling it all and that's part of our creed around here. We'll be watching Patrick with the rest of the world this weekend, June 22 and 23 as he drives for the podium. Join us in wishing him well via his team's twitter account @DempseyDelPiero and #DempseyLM24. Come on guys! Let's flood Twitter with some team spirit!
Plus the Velocity Pit Crew has created a site in honor of the special airing later this summer and we hope you'll bookmark it as we'll be adding photos, facts about the cars, the race and more. You've gotta stick with us for an amazing summer at full speed!
