The 2013 Camaro1LE…and a 1967 Camaro Ready for Overhaulin’
10/16/2012
We love to give Velocity fans a first look at things when we can. Today is one of those days we can kill two birds with one stone. We can give you a sneak peek at the 1967 Camaro that heads into the garage Tuesday 12/11 at 9p E/P and we can give you a look at the 2013 Camaro 1LE – the latest out of Chevy’s stable. We're even going to try to bring you some of the "after" shots
The new 1LE performance package for the 2013 Camaro SS coupe sports a 6.2L LS3 V8 under the hood generating 426 hp and 420 pound feet of torque, which takes it from 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. High capacity fuel pumps, a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission, and an upgraded final drive ratio (to 3.91) are also part of the package.

The 1LE hearkens back to the handling package from the ’88 model that was a result of Pro-Am racers reporting understeering. What does that mean for the modern 1LE? Well, it means that the same sort of upgrades in suspension and braking they worked up back then have been brought forward to the modern consumer model to make it handle like a sporty little dream.
Visually the 1LE is different from the standard SS with a livery that reminds me of a Transformer – it’s got a matte black hood and rear spoiler and some big ole’ wheels with red Brembo brake calipers and 20 inch aluminum wheels.
What do you think? Is a new generation of muscle car back?
Now, for the sneak peek at tonight’s new episode of Overhaulin’ at 9p E/P. You know how sometimes things don’t go exactly to plan? Well that’s what happened with a great guy who found his dream 1967 Camaro and had to have it. It was a great auction deal… or so he thought. It was an internet auction and unfortunately when he received the goods he found that it was a fixer ‘upper. Not that we frown on DIY projects, except for the fact that it was beyond his budget – and he wanted to make sure it was done right.
This Overhaulin’ is right up the team’s alley - a chance to make a killer car come back to life for someone who really appreciates the beauty of a classic.
Here’s a sneak peek, but you have to promise to come back for the whole story Tuesday night!

I enjoy Overhauling especially Chip Floose, he must have a big heart to make peoples dreams come true. I've saw other Hot Rods shows that didn't show the class he does. He must have good family traditions, that only shows in how he treats people. He only seems to associate with good people who really knows the value of human life. I just love the show and the people that makes it.

Dear Chip, The A Team and The Velocity.
I would like to tell you a story about me and my car. My name is Manu Chapodze . I was born and grow up in Moscow, Russia. I love cars since childhood, especially american cars: Customs, Hot-Rods and Muscle Cars. Unfortunately, they are very unpopular in Russia. So I could see them only on TV. I often watched Discovery Channel and saw the "Rides" with Chip Foose. You tuned two Cadillacs and that moment I understand what I want to do in my life. While I was studying, I began to try myself at the world of tuning and here is my first experience - rear bumper for Ford Focus Sedan in 2006:
Everyone loved it, and I immediately received an order for 10 more. I was invited to work in the company ATS-Tuning. At first it was just two boxes, under my leadership for 4 years they have become the largest office dealing visual tuning in Moscow. Together we made many beautiful cars, that's my favorite: Ford Focus Hatchback
After that I was invited to work in the company Pro Service, it is more like a West Cost Customs, and I don't like it, so I worked there only six months. That was my car, Mazda 6 2008, unfortunately, I had to sell it and still regret and miss her.
In 2010 I decided to move to their homeland - Georgia. This is a small country in the Caucasus. In Soviet times motor sport was very developed here, there was one of four race track of Soviet Union named "Rustavi" that was built in '78 (History gallery of Rustavi Track). Shota Abkhazava businessman bought it in 2009 and began to reconstruct. I started to work there during the construction, and now I'm a head of marketing. Also we have created a local FIA GASA and introduced two new classes - American Legends and Formula Alfa. The following photos are from the opening where I'm standing in a white shirt next to the President of Georgia at the opening of Circuit April 29, 2012. And all the racers on the right photo. More than 30 cars took part in the first championship of Georgia, that was a real success. During the opening, I got one of 6 medals for the greatest contribution to the development of Motorsport.

In Georgia I met a wonderful girl - Natia. She is the most talented photographer in the world. We are very fond of traveling by car in Georgia. We visited 20 cities this year and marked them on the map with green pins in our room. Red marks are the places where we are planning to visit this year
We travel any time in any our weather on our Ford Focus with out dog Batu. Natia even give me to drive sometimes =)
Natia has taught me that one picture can say more 1000 words. I wrote you a thousand letters, but don't received a reply, so I decided to tell everything in the photos and even made a website.
Now some words about my car. GAZ-21 "Volga" was produced in the Soviet Union and was the dream of our grandfathers including mine. I'd love to get this car from him, but he died quite young. I always liked this car because it looks like an American classics.
I was searching a car made in 1957-58 with the five-point star on the grill. There was produced only 1100 cars and it was very hard to find. In 2009, when I worked in Moscow, I was able to find it in Georgia! I immediately came to see it, the ovner was a very nice old man. The car was fantastically preserved, 100% original, but not well-groomed ...
On the plate you can see that car was prodused in 1958 and was 553rd from 1100. Mileage was 57138 (91955km). The engine was in good condition. This car has a 2.4 liter engine with 3 speed manual transmission. They produced
several modifications even V8 5.5l 3 speed automatic.
I bought it and washed immediately.
Clean it looked amazing and I knew that I found what I was searching for a long time.
Then we carefully moved the car to the garage, my father's car had to be left on the street.
And the story was broken ... I returned to Russia and was able to return to Georgia only in year. But I was not able to take care of your car - not enough time and money. I'm sure you will understand me, because you have given second life to so many cars, made happy so many people, but couldn't get down to your own car. I remember the tears of joy when you see what your friends have done it for you. All this time I wrote you a letter with hope that I will get some response. Your talent to overhaul modern cars keeping them true style - that's what I need.
The car was waiting all this time in the garage... until one day I went outside and saw the fire truck pumping water out of the garage. The pipe was bursted up and a garage filled with water throughout the night. It was one of the worst moments of my life. The water was knee-deep, but I still got into there to get car out. Thank God it did not hurt, but it had to be put in the yard. Two weeks later I came home and saw that someone stole the hood deer... I was very depressed, and when I was going to drive it back to the garage, it was flooded again ... From that time when I see it before going to work and coming home every night, I realize that it is dying in front of me, and I can't do anything about it.
There is no good painting or companies involved in the restoration of cars. Georgia and the United States are very friendly countries and a lot of ferries are plying between them. There wili be no problems with sending a car.
I really need your help, Chip. This car means a lot to me. My dream is to travel around the Europe on this car and tell everyone tah you made it for me. And leave it in inheritance to my son one day.

It said that it's only a sneak peak, Trent. I think that's why they didn't show the exact work in order. Well, I think as a viewer, you would really want to see how the entire overhauling went, and I'm part of those viewers as well. @ Chad: Yup, the Camaro is beautiful as it is. But, I wonder how it would look like after it was overhauled. I can't wait to see that, too! :)

I love the show but the producers frustrate me because they keep showing progress on the car out of sequence. They show work being done on an unpainted car but they've already reached day 6 and the car is painted. They should show all of the work in order, just as the announcer speaks to it.

I cannot believe a camaro of that quality just got overhauled. I thought this show was to rebuild cars in rough shape for people that need help and love their cars! I'm sure there is many cars and great people that have nasty cars that need your help and you picked a car that was already done??? Im confused and dont even wanna watch it.
