Find Out Who Tells Wayne “I Just Want to Keep Going Fast…”
10/16/2012
Tonight is jam packed with classic and exotic car goodness in Chasing Classic Cars. We’ve got all new episodes starting at 10p E/P and you know Wayne – he covers a lot of ground so the mystery quote could have come from just about anyone in the car world.
We won’t leave you guessing – in fact we’ll give you a few sneak peeks so you’ll be sure to come by.
As some of you have probably guessed, the man behind the “I just want to keep going fast!” quote is none other than Dennis Varni owner of the Speed Nymph shop which holds quite a collection of exotic cars and some incredible vintage Salt Flat cars. These are the cars that try to break the land speed records each year at the famed Bonneville Salt Flats. Dennis just happens to have the world record at 330mph in his latest car “The Streamliner.” But if you listen carefully you can hear him promise that he plans to go faster.
Wayne also takes a trip to the famed European Auto Salvage Yard – a famed East Bay parts shop for just about anything Porsche you could want. If you can find it – this shop has no inventory and is stacked ceiling to floor with parts. It leaves Wayne in awe as he takes a tour and finds out that the owner and staff know where just about everything is.
We’ll also see Wayne make a successful bid on a very raw 1913 Thor motorcycle. The Thor is a true piece of motorcycle history. The company got its start providing engines for the likes of Indian Motorcycles before starting out on their own. The Thor was different from other bikes of the day in that they introduced the first V-twin in 1910 – even that was a bit different with the front cylinder tilted forward so the back cylinder stood straight up leaving room for the magneto and carburetor. By 1913 the Thor V-twin became traditionally mounted and was attempting to take on the larger motorcycle brands such as Harley and Indian. Sadly the brand was short lived, but that just makes Wayne’s find even more special.
We’ll bring you everything that makes Wayne go “Wow” tonight with Chasing Classic Cars starting at 10p E/P!

This was an excellent lesson, thank you for posting video. Yes the confusion of whats what from those few years make this article that much better.
What a find that bike is for people doing other restoration to have a valid reference point.
