Toilets in Zero G
September 18, 2008
Being an astronaut is no doubt one of the coolest jobs in space science, but it is not without its practical challenges: like bathroom breaks. In this video, Chris Hadfield of the Canadian Space Agency describes -- in carefully worded detail -- just what it's like to relieve oneself in zero gravity, and how that affects the design of toilets on board spacecraft. Wonderful, charming explanation, though I really didn't need to have shooting stars become one more aspect of the universe tainted by human waste.
