New Shows Feature Gowns for the Custom-Order Bride and the Curvy Bride
“Bride By Design” (working title) follows “Project Runway” alum Heidi Elnora, a Birmingham, Alabama-based wedding dress designer. Heidi creates dreamy gowns for Southern brides. In her showroom, she consults with brides who want completely custom gowns -- from sketch to sewing to final fitting -- and brides who customize their gowns from her Build-a-Bride collection. The Build-a-Bride collection works like this: the bride chooses a plain gown in a shape she likes, then adds on embellishments like lace, peplum, sleeves or sparkle. Whichever route Heidi’s brides take, their final look is guaranteed to be flawless!
“Curvy Brides” showcases the plus-size bridal salon Curvaceous Couture, located in Maryland. Owned and operated by sisters Yukia and Yuneisia, “Curvy Brides” demonstrates that there’s a dream dress out there for every woman, no matter her size. Yukia herself struggled to find a designer wedding gown to suit her curves, and that struggle inspired her to help other women get outfitted for their special day. The sisters started out running a business in their father’s basement, and now they’re running a boutique with gowns for plus-size women with every taste and style.
