"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo"'s Sugar Bear Gets A Fried Food Smack Down
Fried, fatty foods seem like a staple in the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo house. But all that might change soon. Following his hospital visit due to chest pains last week, Alana's papa Sugar Bearwas diagnosed with pancreatitis.
In the wake of the health scare, June released the following statement on the family's Facebook page:
oh k cause everyone is talking and what our family emergency is well im going to go public so there will b no fake stories of what is going sugarbear was rushed to the hospital Monday by us cause he was having chest pains like gas pains well we get to the hospital and after tests we found out he has a severe case of pancreatitis which is inflammation of the pancreas and cause he is a diabetic type 2 pills only thats not good so he has been hospitalized under strict doctor care was in ICU the first night he is out of ICU but he has a long road ahead of him we have let his pancreas rest and his body rest tests r being ran everyday cause they dont know what is causing us cause normally causes it like gall stones alcoholism or high cholesterol and he doesn't have none of these things so hope we get answers soon we r staying very close to the hospital in case he needs us thanks for all the thoughts ahead of time and i will update when i can... Following the hospital stay, Sugar Bear has been put on a fried-food-free diet and must also avoid spicy foods. TMZ reports that he's “feeling pretty good, for the most part," and has been advised to take his medication and cut back on the unhealthy eating to avoid another hospital stay.
Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas. According to the Mayo Clinic, symptoms of pancreatitis include:
- Upper abdominal pain
- Abdominal pain that radiates to your back
- Abdominal pain that feels worse after eating
- Tenderness when touching the abdomen
The common course of treatment for the disease includes controlled fasting to clear out the inflammation; pain medications and changes in the diet.
