"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo"'s Sugar Bear Gets A Fried Food Smack Down

Sugar_bear_030413Fried, fatty foods seem like a staple in the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo house. But all that might change soon. Following his hospital visit due to chest pains last week, Alana's papa Sugar Bearwas diagnosed with pancreatitis.

In the wake of the health scare, June released the following statement on the family's Facebook page:

Following the hospital stay, Sugar Bear has been put on a fried-food-free diet and must also avoid spicy foods. TMZ reports that he's “feeling pretty good, for the most part," and has been advised to take his medication and cut back on the unhealthy eating to avoid another hospital stay.

Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas. According to the Mayo Clinic, symptoms of pancreatitis include:

  • Upper abdominal pain
  • Abdominal pain that radiates to your back
  • Abdominal pain that feels worse after eating
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Tenderness when touching the abdomen

The common course of treatment for the disease includes controlled fasting to clear out the inflammation; pain medications and changes in the diet.
