Diamonds Are a Baker's Best Friend
11/30/2011
Check out exclusive Cake Boss webisodes, and after you're done flipping through Buddy's sketchbook, be sure to rate his cakes!
When Devorah wandered into Carlo's Bakery, she turned a lot of heads. As Buddy said, she was a real high-class looking lady. Plus, she came with a couple of guards. And not just that -- she also brought diamonds!
A socialite from Manhattan, Devorah was hosting a gala and wanted to serve her guests the most expensive cake ever made. The theme of the party was "Anything is Possible," and for her, it was possible to present a jaw-dropping cake covered in diamonds and precious jewels.
She wasn't kidding, either. Not only did she come wearing a $7 million necklace (her favorite accessory), her jeweler brough an assortment of other pieces and loose stones. In total, Buddy and his crew -- and his excited sisters -- were gasping over $30 million of glitz.
Even though Danny didn't get the concept of "socialite," he still helped the rest of the crew pull off this masterpiece. Buddy admitted it was a little "nerve-wracking" with a guard looking over his shoulder, but with that much money spread on his table, he got it. The guard wasn't too keen on seeing Buddy and his crew attach pricey stones with frosting and fondant, but how else were they going to stick?
When the cake was delivered, Devorah admitted she was on pins and needles. Would anything fall off the cake? Would everything arrive safely? And would her guests be impressed? The results were sparkly as diamonds: The cake arrived in one piece, and her guests were thrilled!
That's it for now! Cake Boss returns after the new year -- and we'll get more updated on the Carlo's Bakery renovations! For now, watch Next Great Baker on Mondays @ 9/8 c. for your frosting fix!

I feel bad for Buddy's Mom who now knows her son thinks cheating is ok... tweeting he"didn't know".. wink wink... that Grelel-Ann cheated in order to go on to the finals. This show is a scam.. too bad Buddy didn't realize that the parents of what could have been the next generation of customers are now telling their children that Buddy and Carlos' do not represent the values we want our children to embrace... Boycott this show, his bakery.. and the bakery of Gretel-Ann.. http://www.cuppsvt.com.. also, email her to show your dis-satisfaction in her morals...

I loved the show until you moved into your new shop. Everyone was fun and happy. Now the show isnt as good as it was because everyone's head has gotten too big. Its a shame and to delete your sister is awful. She was one of the funniest parts of your show

I watched the chandelier cake episode and was disappointed in the staging and the "accident" of dropping the cake. Come on this is supposed to be REALITY TV not EDIT and FAKE TV. I would watch the show WITHOUT the goofy stupid staging of stuff. there was nothing or no one to lower the cake to. was Buddy going to hold it by the rope while someone cut it???? hahahaha NO!!!! KEEP IT REAL..PLEASE

I am writing today to express great disbelief in Buddy Valastro and his team. If this name does not ring a bell it is none other than, The Cake Boss. On Friday, April 27th my sign language instructor and some interpreter’s had the opportunity to interpret under the spotlights with him. This would allow the Deaf culture to feel connected to this hearing world. Deaf people do not have, despite common belief, the luxury of being able to lip read or properly read subtitles. So, having this event interpreted was a huge advantage to the Deaf. Well, in the moment it took Buddy to acknowledge the interpreter’s were there, it took him even less time to block them from signing. It goes beyond the fact Buddy and his team stood right in front of the interpreter’s. There were Deaf people in the audience attempting to notify them to move because they could not see what was being signed. Neither buddy nor any of his team moved. This is disrespect! It is taking away a privilege. Without all types of viewers, Deaf, Blind, Hearing, Black, White, Hispanic, etc., Buddy would not have a show. So, in this moment, he showed how unimportant and irrelevant Deaf people are to him. If his heart was there to reach out and help and understand different people he would have acknowledge the interpreter’s for the full length of the taping. Instead, he claimed the spotlight.
I personally have been to his store and you have to wait in a lengthy line just to get in. Now, what if I disregarded the wait and stomped into the store and demanded to be served? I would be kicked out in a heartbeat! This is the same principle. He demands respect when you come into his store, to continue to make him a profit, but he doesn’t acknowledge the rights Deaf people have. How is this fare?

Don't like his attitude and furthermore, none of his people ever wear a hairnet or gloves. They handle everything with their hands. I wouldn't eat anything from his shop!

Oh Buddy...my husband and I really wish you would have picked Nadine for The Next Greatest Baker. She was hands down better than Marissa.
Posted by: Jen | 02/04/2012 at 10:43 PM
Cake Boss has been a fovorite until the episode of next Great Baker. If you will recheck your video's you will see that Nadine was by far the best over-all!! She clearly won the episode between she and Marissa when the last thing they did was icing the cupcakes. Nadine finished FIRST but she had to walk around behind Marissa who was closest to the finish table! It was so obvious that Marissa was a fav of yours. She was a miss 'DRAMA QUEEN' the whole show. What a disappointment and made me angry. Your show went from a "10" to a "3" for me.
