Defying Explanation in "The Haunted"
11/20/2009
Do You Believe?
Are animals really more sensitive to the potential presence of "spirits"? Do they have exceptional paranormal powers? A bold new Animal Planet series focuses on this fascinating premise. "The Haunted," airing Sundays at 10 p.m., spotlights stories of animals whose actions defy logic ... and actions that cannot be explained by weather, or shadows, or defective lights. Such as a cat's dish moving from one stair to a higher one overnight---no paw prints, so the cat certainly couldn't carry it. And horses, securely locked in their stalls, turning up in DIFFERENT stalls the following morning--and no, the horses didn't pick those locks!
Then there's the out-of-nowhere screeching of monkeys, baffling both owners and customers of a shop. Not an ape of any kind in sight. Who's there, messing with things?
We know how dogs' hearing is vastly superior to our own, cats tap into emotions, and horses react to even slight weather changes. So can they really sense spirits that even the most keenly tuned in humans cannot? "The Haunted" follows people whose experiences leave them baffled, and in some cases, turning to paranormal experts for answers.(In the phone book, under "P" for Paranormal?)
The Mole took a sneak peek at several episodes, and it's safe to say you'll be be holding your breath as you wonder what's going on here--and what those animals are seeing and sensing that we are not. Because something sure seems to be out there...
And check back next week for some behind-the-scenes info as The Mole interviews two producers of the series. George Plamondon and Betsy Schechter will offer tantalizing details from the tales that will unfold in the weeks ahead.

I think people will be surprised to see just how sensitive animal's truly are to the supernatural.
I am kind of biased but The Ghost Box Prophecies episode is going to be mind boggling ..I promise you that.

Animals are very intelligent and are extremely to the supernatural, inclement weather, emotional people... They are more aware of what's going on around them than most humans.

On the episode of The Haunted of Animal Planet presented Jan 17, 2010, a family left their home due to an unruly spirit of a man who had killed himself in his home years earlier. The questions left unanswered are "Did they ever sell the house or is the house vacant?" "Did they get any compensation for buying a house were a suicide had occurred to which they were not informed of?" "Why were ghost hunters brought in, but not anyone to cleanse the house?" "Why, or perhaps they have, has the show not asked someone like Allison DuBois, who loves haunted places as they are like theme parks for her, to help cross them over?" Granted most real mediums do not wish to be on film when they try to help people as they don't want the publicity, so Animal Planet may have helped these people. If so, a post script type of problem resolved by cleansing or medium would have been nice. But as the show ended, these people gave up a dog, and lost their home due to the financial loss of removing the family from harms way.

Like Rebecca, I was left with a lot of questions after the Jan 17, 2010 show. Why wasn't a medium or a priest or ghost hunting group with more experience asked to help assist the family? In what state and town did this occur even occur in? I didn't catch that information anywhere, but I might have missed it. Does anyone live in the house now?

I didn't register 'ghost' until a short while later when someone
mentioned that these were famous ghosts who have been visiting the
cathedral for many centuries. Apparently the round shiny objects are
the shaven heads of monks. This person said they are only four feet
off the floor because they're still walking on the old floor, from
before they rebuilt after some major destruction

So that's why dogs bark when we don't see anything. That's pretty amazing.
