BOO-tiful Viewing!

Web of Intrigue

Just in time to get you in that Halloween mood, Friday night brings two rebroadcasts touched with scare tactics.

"Spidermania," airing at 7 p.m., spotlights Rick West, the world-renowned spider collector. That's right, this man spins a tale of fascination with the delicate critters. And he really does have a personal collection of 300 live tarantulas. Wouldn't want to be invited to his home for dinner! The program also features a hunt for a giant Amazonian spider and peeks inside the tree cocoon of a steel-blue tarantula — hey, you look, not me!

Howling Good Time

"Mr. and Mrs. Wolfman" airs next, a sequel to 2007's "The Wolfman." You may remember Shaun Ellis from that documentary, which chronicled his seven-year experiment living with a pack of wolves. This time, Shaun brings his girlfriend Helen Jeffs into the pack, hoping the wolves will accept her — and that she'll be comfortable too. For Helen, it's like starting a new entry level job: her role is that of "wolf nanny" for an alpha wolf and her cubs. Both Shaun and Helen demonstrate not only their love for the wolves, but some serious courage — this is not the same as letting the dog sit on your lap while channel surfing!

Dog-O-Lanterns?

And speaking of dogs, besides costuming your patient pup in wizard-wear or a ballerina's tutu, you can turn a pumpkin into a portrait. That's right, the creative elves at Better Homes & Gardens think an orange gourd looks great with the face of a German Shepherd, Jack Russell, Poodle, Golden Retriever and many more loyal breeds. They've provided free down-loadable stencils to guide you. No need for a live canine model, so go ahead, you've still got time to transform that pumpkin into a pug! Click here to check these pup stencils out!
