10-Year-Old Pulls Gun Over Candy Theft Joke
11/08/2011
Here we have a case, not so much of a stupid criminal as a life lesson: Never joke about stealing a kid's Halloween candy.
In Aiken, South Carolina, an unnamed trick-or-treater was making his candy collection rounds with about eight other kids.
There is no word on his costume, but we're thinking that should it have been one of those crazy video game hoodlums from the Grand Theft Auto series.
That's because at one door on his route, the woman of the house made the mistake of joking that he had so much candy, she just might steal some.
So naturally, and without delay, our little dude pulled his Intra Tech 9MM handgun, and replied, “No, you're not, b****!”
The stunned woman called police.
They discovered that the gun wasn't loaded but the boy had a clip of ammunition.
It turns out that the boy's brother also had a gun, but he didn't show it. It's believed they got the weapons from a relative without his knowledge.
No charges were filed due to the boys' ages, but we are not getting a good feeling about their contributions to society over the next 60 years or so.

I highly doubt Grand Theft Auto had anything to do with this child's choice to carry a weapon. I feel that accusation to be baseless.
The parents of these children are obviously failing. Perhaps questioning the supervision over the entertainment options would be more prudent.

@Jason calm down, the article never said nor does it infer than GTA had anything to do with the child's choice.
The author was merely using it as a example of the child's behavior within a humorous context.

No, seriously, you calm down. Video games get enough of a bad rep without the article author making yet another comparison to video game violence by stating he should have been wearing the clothes. No.

I would like to point out that the characters in Grand Theft Auto are not dressed in any specific attire, and therefore the statement of dressing as a "hoodlum" from the game is inherently uneducated as to the premise of the game. The idea is that one looks normal and blends in when they play the game, as to not get caught.
So, to quote Wednesday Addams, "I'm a homicidal maniac, they look just like everyone else."
