Will Dustin Make It As A Yukon Man?

Here’s what Executive Producer French Horwitz thinks:
“I live tweet these shows and the most common question I get is, ‘Could I come up there and be on the show and live that way?’ I would respond, ‘You can’t handle it. I promise you.’
It just so happened that Pat Moore was looking for a new dog handler and hired one who was from the lower 48, from North Carolina. In Season Two, we truly show everyone out there how hard it is to survive in this terrain, how hard it is to adapt and just to make it through the day. We get to watch this new character, Dustin, learn to adapt, to handle dogs, to survive in this world.
That, to me, is the most compelling story in Season Two."
Tune in tonight at 9|8c to see if Dustin has what it takes to make it in the Yukon and what big decision the Moores will make about him.

Ditch the Dustin story line. The forced drama mucks up what I liked about Yukon Men. It is simple and tough - can these guys make it? The Dustin Drama & conflict element is what I dislike about reality shows.

I saw Yukon Man for the first time tonight. i don,t know the usual schedule, but they were putting out leg traps to catch carnivores. It looked like they finally caught blood, which the whole idea seemed archaic to me. then one shot at at a wolverine, a species very rare and considered a species to add to the endangered species list. I think this program gives the wrong idea to the average viewer. That trapping predatory animals is okay. this is purely another program to give the viewer a feeling that the wilderness is something to tame. We cannot continue, in good faith to make believe animals are a sacrifice. Please discontinue this program. It is not a program I intend to watch on this channel.

This program is sickening. My husband watches this show and I got to watch how a couple of wolverines were trapped by their paws and tortured until they were finally put out of their misery until these lard-assed "hunters" shoot, miss; shoot, miss; shoot, miss until the animals are finally killed. Look at how the wolverines circled and circled the length of the trap chain until it all around looked like tilled ground.
Shame on you. Your program is disgraceful. Your directors, producers, cameramen, staff, etc. probably all vomit after each and every scene.

P.S.
These "hunters" justify killing bears and wolverines because they are carnivores and MIGHT pose a threat to the human population. When was the last time that you heard of a wolverine killing a human? Never. But I can think of several humans who need to be pulled down and devoured by their prey on Discovery Channel.

I can't believe Discovery Channel promotes a show like this. I started hunting when I was 14 and enjoy the sport provided the animals are treated humanely. My friends who hunt feel the same way. They're honorable sportsmen who respect nature and its wildlife, and always go the extra mile to make sure no animal suffers needlessly.. but leg trapping is the worst kind of animal cruelty. How many hours does the animal have to suffer before mercifully being killed? What if another predator comes upon this animal whose leg is trapped? The animals can't run - can't even defend itself. For just one minute put yourself in that animals place - can you imagine what that must be like. I mean really mentally put yourself... or someone you love... in that position. Meditate on that for a minute. Now tell me you don't think this is cruel. Then, to make matters far worse... when these guys show up they start poking the lynx with a stick rather than quickly (and mercifully)ending its life? Why? So you guys can get some "good footage"? You ought to all be ashamed of yourselves. Unbelievable.

Killing animals isn't for sport for these people. You are worse than these people if you think sport killing is better than killing for food. They are trying to survive in the wilderness. This is a way of live. Do you really think it's humane the was cattle are slaughtered? If you aren't a vegetarian than you can't judge. It's easy to sit in your comfy house with your cable and judge the place were everyone in this country came from. Do you think people started out with groceries stores?

This trash needs to be taken down.
It's not survival it's profit making.
I'm even working on a page to expose this HORRID sadist show.
