Green Plug, For Real
December 17, 2008
We're getting closer to a truly intelligent electrical-charging system. Tech startup Green Plug announced today that it will be teaming up with power product maker Innergie to create a smart hub that you'll be able to plug all your electronics into.
Remember the hub? I wrote about the system recently. Innergie already makes the world's smallest universal power adapter. The new version will use Green Plug's technology, called Greentalk, which has been licensed to electronics-makers for free. Soon you'll be able to plug everything--phone, laptop, ipod--into the hub and it will know exactly how much power, and what kind, to supply.
The nice part is the hub will cut the electricity flow when the charging is done, saving a ton of energy. Try to do that with your power strip. Eventually we won't need separate chargers, which will lighten my suitcase considerably. The Green Plug-enabled mCube90 will be demonstrated next month at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. I'd say this tech is a good bet.

Tis is not for everything electrical as yu suggest it is only for USB chargable devices and has a car adapter. Sure its a good idea and when perfected will be widly used but right now its just for portale devices not going to replace the power strip quite yet.
