Wow, am I the only one that wished the science channel commentator would STFU during EDL. He managed to talk over every transmission from the control center. There are times
when dead air is OK. Like when you want to hear status
updates for a very short landing sequence. It would have
been pretty dramatic without the vacuous questions.
I kept hoping someone would suggest he listen and stop
chattering. Oh well.

landrum - i was another (of the many, i suspect) person screaming at the tv commentator to SHUT UP. should have just gone onto the Nasa.gov website to watch nasa tv. in any event, can't let one person spoil an otherwise fantastic accomplishment. congrats phoenix team - let's invest our tax dollars in this stuff instead of blowing up other countries!

Ditto folks. I was screaming at the TV recording of the 7 minutes of terror! what an idiot. history captured and hijacked by the commentator. NASA Chief Garvin tried subtly to suggest to him to SU with 'things are happening quickly now', an apparent attempt to give the guy a clue that he was talking over the whole point of the two hour program...the LIVE landing sequence as seen through the JPL Control Room. Still it was awesome history, true joy by the team....history making IF water ice reveals organic (biologic) components. Proud to be an American.
