Giants Team on Grid

Announced in the NY Times earlier this week, two of the largest and most influential non-energy companies in the world have formed a partnership on energy. While short on details, the fact that they will be collaborating bodes well, as GE's planet scale energy infrastructure engineering experience, and Google's equal facility with massive and complex software systems, are both requisite capabilities for a build out of the new "smart grid" you've been reading about here, here, here and elsewhere.
