First 'Bag of 2009 brings druggy bees, cheesy bacteria and hairy compost!

January 13, 2009

James is right, it HAS been awhile. So without further adooo... here are last week's stories that I did and that you heard and loved and voted for. Hopefully.

1. Human hair can be composted. Gross. But delicious (for plants).

2. Say Cheese Bacteria!

3. As if bees didn't have enough problems, now they're on drugs. They learned it by watching YOU!

Also, listener Adele writes us to inform that on a recent Saturday Night Live hosted by guest host Neil Patrick Harris, one of the weekend update anchors mentioned the bees hooked on drugs study. I couldn't find a clip, so instead I give you this:

Feedbag Fun Fact: As a youngster, I was sometimes called Doogie Howser MD, for my superficial physical  resemblance to the boy genius doctor played by NPH. Not, however, for the fact that I too was once a 12-year-old surgeon with a best friend named Vinny.

Also, thank you to everyone who voted for my stories. But most importantly, thank you to the researchers who actually did all the work and allowed me to kinda take credit. You're the best!
