Dancing Parrot Update

July 09, 2009

A while back we introduced you to Snowball, the dancing sulphur-crested cockatoo. He is the pride and joy of Irena Schulz, who took the formerly abandoned bird under her wing, so to speak, at Bird Lovers Only Rescue. This avian dancing phenom's star has risen quite a bit since then, so I'd like to give you an update. First, look at his moves at The World Science Festival, held just last month at New York University. This video wound up on my Facebook page. As one viewer commented, "Between the scientists with no rhythm and Snowball's bows at the end, I'm not sure which is funnier." I think the scientists did OK, all things considered, but see what you think.

During his recent rising star period, Snowball appeared on our very own Animal Planet.

More offers started to come his way, including this Taco Bell commercial.

Hawking tacos led to this international commercial gig.

I'll leave you with a bit of Christmas in July. If you are one of those people who likes to plan way ahead, Snowball has a winter holiday DVD, with proceeds helping to pay for not only Snowball's upkeep, but that of other birds at the sanctuary. Information about the DVD, and other Snowball-related goodies, is at the rescue center's website.
