Bobcats Visit Arizona Condo

July 06, 2009

Now that it's summer in the Northern Hemisphere, many of us are enjoying more time in our backyards, or those of friends and relatives. The wonder of the great outdoors, even in developed areas, is that non-human animals can sometimes pay us a visit too. Often that means an occasional raccoon, deer, possum, skunk, bird and other commonly seen animal.

My friend Dr. Heidi Littman, however, recently sent me photographs from an Arizona couple, who were startled to see not one, but four bobcats in the garden of their condo complex. The photos appear to show a mother bobcat with her three cubs. Well done to Will McKinley, who receives credit for all of the images, for maintaining his cool while taking these wonderful pics.

As you can see in the below film, bobcats may look like cute little kitties, but they are wild cats with well honed hunting skills. In McKinley's case, however, it looks like the bobcats were just seeking a refreshing drink and some hammock playtime.
