Pet Mayor Election
June 22, 2009
I had a fantastic time over the weekend at the Pet Mayor contest in Northern California. It's a benefit for the Montclair Pet and Wildlife Fund, which helps pets and wildlife in need and fosters the peaceful coexistence of humans and animals through education. The dogs of a few of my friends were in the race, making it all the more fun. I hadn't really planned to share the below with you, as it was just taken with my tiny camcorder and not my monster professional cam, but what the heck.
The event raised a record-breaking amount this year: $19,637.16.
I spoke with Alex the Tortoise's "mom," and she told me he's already planning his candidacy for next year.
Congratulations to the new mayor—Little Bear—his mom Barbara Price, and all of the candidates.
Thanks to Gary Richter, the entire staff of Montclair Veterinary Hospital and the Montclair Pet and Wildlife Fund for organizing yet another successful race.
Politics for me have never been so enjoyable.

We love this video. Thank you so much for coming to the event and for sharing this video. It was a fun election and all of the candidates were amazing. Little Bear will make a terrific Pet Mayor of Montclair!
