Celebrity Carmageddon
On Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, Pulp Fiction co-screenwriter Roger Avary, 42, allegedly had a few midnight cocktails and then decided to take a high-speed spin near his home in Ojai, Calif., about 90 minutes north of Los Angeles. A short while later, the Oscar-winning Avary slammed his Mercedes sedan into a telephone pole.
Avary’s friend, Andrea Zini, 34, from Modena, Italy, was sitting in the front passenger seat, which was the side that smashed into the pole. Avary’s wife, Gretchen, 40, was catapulted through the back of the car.
Unfortunately for Zini, 34, he would not be as lucky. He had to be extracted from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life; he later died at a nearby hospital.
Zini’s death is simply the latest in an increasing trend of Hollywood celebrities involved in fatal vehicular accidents...
