Here's a short video of some of the work that National Wildlife Federation is doing in response to the BP Oil Spill Disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. Animal Planet is a supporter of this work. Learn how you can volunteer to help, make your voice heard, and use social media to be part of our efforts. You can also donate directly or text the word WILDLIFE to 20222 to make a $10 donation via your mobile service provider.

Thank you for your help. I cry for my hometown and all the wildlife I grew up loving. Growing up on the Singing River, I have seen the struggles the wildlife there has to go through naturally much less a man-made problem. I'm so far away now and pray that when I go back to visit all will be OK again.

Ultimately all of us that use oil are responsible for this... without a market for the oil they wouldn't be drilling. So, what are we going to do to rid ourselves of the need for oil? That is the answer...and I hope this oil spill did not happen in vain. Are we going to finally get serious and develop clean energy? I pray for the planet.

Laura, we at NWF hope so too.
Louise, I couldn't agree more. BP is responsible for the disaster and cleaning it up, but until we all push for a clean energy future, we all bear some the responsibility for oil spills. Cleaning oiled wildlife and stopping the leak are important, but there are really only band-aids to the bigger issue of dirty energy.
NWF has been fighting for clean energy legislation for years and we need YOUR help now to make it happen. Otherwise we can expect more horrific oil spills in the future.
