Burning Sea Turtles
06/30/2010
Baby sea turtles, along with dozens of species of small fish, shrimp,
crabs and other wildlife, naturally find shelter in open water in
flotillas of sargassum seaweed. Well, not only is the dispersed oil in
the Gulf clinging to the sargassum, the wildlife doesn't seem to
perceive that this stuff is toxic and are mistaking the slick for
natural shelter.
As BP collects and burns this oil on the surface, these creatures, already suffering the devastating effects of the toxic oil and dispersant mixture, are apparently being burned alive. Watch this video to learn more.

That is so sad cant they do anything like work out something???? Poor Sea Turtles

These poor turtles. We should do something! There aren't going to be any of these poor babies left!

I understand that the outcry from the public has already gotten wildlife observers on the oil boats to make sure that they don't burn animals... I haven't heard about how this is working yet... going to do a search now... But there is already something happening in response to this.

Cathy, you are correct. I just posted an update on what's happening with the sea turtle burning at http://blogs.discovery.com/gulf-oil-spill/2010/07/update-burning-sea-turtles.html
