Finally, a Dream Car For Treehugger Barbie

Aug. 31, 1955: As part of a huge exhibition in Chicago called "Powerama," General Motors unveils the first solar-powered car, designed by William Cobb. Unfortunately, it's only 15 inches long, but its 12 photoelectric cells power a tiny electric motor that turns the driveshaft. A driveable solar car won’t appear for 25 years. Who first came up with the idea of a solar car?
