When Worlds Collide

04/29/2010

Adam_mike Just thought I'd share a great story I heard in a meeting yesterday. One of our online producers was just in San Francisco filming some webisodes with the MythBusters, and went out to dinner with Adam, his wife and one of the MythBusters producers.  While they were out, she got a call from Dave Barsky, the producer of Dirty Jobs, inviting her to join the Dirty Jobs cast and crew at a nearby wine bar/restaurant.  Adam and his wife joined her, and the end result was this fabulous photo of Adam Savage and Mike Rowe, posing as one another (note how the signature glasses and baseball cap have switched places).  [Click on the photo to see it full-size]

By the way, those webisodes will be launching on the MythBusters fan site next week, so keep an eye out!

CatchCon 2010

04/28/2010

Catchcon175If you're a fan of Deadliest Catch, I've got good news, and bad news -- and more good news.

The good news is that CatchCon 2010 will be held in Seattle, WA on Saturday, May 1.  Captains Sig Hansen, Johnathan & Andy Hillstrand and Keith Colburn will be there, and fans will have a chance to compete in crab-fishing challenges, meet the captains, tour the Northwestern and the Wizard, and watch exclusive sneak previews of Season 6.

The bad news is that CatchCon sold out weeks ago.

But do not despair!  The additional good news is that we will be streaming the event live online, so you can be a part of CatchCon from the comfort of your own home.  You will be able to participate in panels, tour the boats, and interact with your favorite captains through the online broadcast.

There will also be a special memorial service for Capt. Phil Harris on Friday, April 30 at 6:30 PM PT (9:30 PM ET).

Join family, friends and fans of Phil Harris to pay respects to the late Captain. Remarks will be made by Phil's sons Jake and Josh Harris, several close friends and fellow fisherman, and Discovery Channel executives. In addition, a tribute video honoring Phil's legacy will be shown.

If you are in the Seattle area, the event is open to the public and will be held at Smith Cove Cruise Terminal at Pier 91. Space is limited to the first 2,000 people, but boats are welcome to join/watch from the water overlooking Pier 91.

If not, we will also be broadcasting the memorial live online.

For more information, and to sign up for the online event, please visit our CatchCon 2010 site.
