Producers of the event released a joint statement saying: “12.12.12 will be the largest concert event to ever hit the stage at Madison Square Garden, featuring the biggest names in music and the world’s leading entertainers.  It was important to us that everyone possible around the world has the ability to watch the show through multiple platforms, networks and simulcasts and donate to this important cause.”

The show will be broadcast on over 30 top networks and screened for free in the states hit hardest by Sandy -- New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

And it’s not for a lost cause – Hurricane Sandy’s damage is estimated to have reached between 30 to 50 billion dollars, costing insurance companies alone somewhere in the ballpark of 10 to 20 million and dramatically affecting small businesses in the greater New York area. This super storm falls right below the devastating Hurricane Katrina which swept the lower U.S. with damage, tragedy and heartache in 2005.

And financial issues are not the only stresses the wrath of Sandy brought to those affected. Rat-infested streets, asbestos exposure and demolished public transportation were among some of the major health threats posed in the aftermath of this enormous storm. The death toll in New York City alone came to 41 people when the storm was done wreaking havoc across one of the most densely populated areas in the country.

Be sure to tune in and show your support for those suffering in the aftermath of Sandy, while enjoying some of the greatest artists of all time. To donate, visit here.
