Josh answers more viewer questions this week. Keep them coming and he'll do his best to answer:
Q: I find it kind of funny that fishermen get annoyed by the camera's presence; what do you guys do when they get really upset?
A: When they get really upset, you do your best to give those guys a little break from you. It's not easy, though, because you are stuck on a little boat together, but some time alone is always a good thing.
Q: I've been wondering, what do you wear to stay warm when it's -5°, the wind is howling, and the waves are constantly washing over you?
A: Layers, layers, layers. I wear two layers of long underwear, a fleece, sweatshirt and then the Grundens.
Q: How many camera crew are on the boat at one time?
A: Two shooters/producers per boat. Todd and I were on the Cornelia Marie. I was on deck and he was in the wheelhouse.
Q: I notice you get shots of the crab boats when they are coming at you. Do you have another boat out there all the time or just when weather gets bad or what?
A: A chase boat called the Sea Star cruises around the Bering Sea shooting us as we fish.
Q: Do you also edit the footage at sea?
A: No, we send the tapes back to L.A., where they are all logged and edited.
Q: Do you have any advice for someone interested in shooting on the Bering Sea?
A: Yes, find a different job ... ha ha. Seriously, this is the most dangerous job in the world. Deadliest is not a joke or made too look more dangerous because it's on TV. It's the real deal and can get scary.

how can the hilstrands get upset with the crew about the crab count, when they are the owners of the boat and there are two of them(brothers), its thier boat, thier money, they are ultimately responsible, they should have made sure there was someone in place and not of snoozing.

What is that black round thing in the wheelhouse window on all the boats that looks sorta like a speaker without the paper insert, is it navagation device or actually a speaker to hear the crew on deck?

Great Show What a difference in Crews
Northwestern- Sig is the man. He tells it like it is. THe Crew is sharp. The Wizard? Not sure who more of a nut Keith or his Brother Montey.
Crying???? Captains don't cry on TV. What an act. He just forgot to take his Meds. His decision to risk his mens lives by putting a tarp over his equipment was do to greed.
Also- Why is Mike Rowe not doing After The Catch? He's the Voice and Face of the show. Boo to Ben the Taxi Man......

I find it amazing that we see ICE on the boat in the middle summer and yet, down in the states we are roasting at 110F weather. Do you guys ever get tired of the freezing temps and find yourselfs just wanting to just chuck it all and split?

I absolutely admire the respect Captain Phil has for his son. His devotion as a Father is timeless. All the crews have great family values. Right on...

What was it like being involuntarily docked at St. Paul for opies?
Would you ever consider putting out an anonymous suggestion box like Sig did in a previous season (I'm thinking it was 2, maybe 1). :)
@ Beth's question, in a previous season, one of the captains has mentioned that opie fishing is actually open at the same time as king crab, but the reason they don't fish for then in Oct is because the opies haven't eaten enough to put on enough weight to be profitable for market (less weight = more work). King crab season closes sooner than opies. Plus, there's the Alaskan law that every tank must be emptied every time they offload, and not every processor offers the same prices. Capt. Eric of the Rollo found that out the hard way when he thought he could take a tank of a different species to a different processor - he was forced to sell them at a loss. I think that would also make it harder for them to calculate quota by keeping track of different species.

My wife and I watch this show and we recently went 3/4 day fishing off the coronado islands on one side of the islands it was windy and the boat was really pitching and we were talking how crazy it would be on the crab boats its hard to understand the weather and pitching boat by just looking at it on tv. you should add a pop up of weather conditions at that time showing temperature wind and pitching degree of the ship i think it would be easy for this show to add that and give us a better understanding of those harsh conditions

I would like to know if any of the guys are single and looking to meet someone. Almost all the men are incredible from what I have seen. It is truly amazing and quite frankly - a turn on to me. If your single and want to chat, please email me at boogie11@att.net. I would consider it an honor to to speak with you.
