Crazy Cat Video: Cat Turns Policeman into Personal Jungle Gym

11/19/2009

Claw & Order: Cat really gets to officer's head ... RLY.

An adorably tenacious and affectionate kitty in Texas has been caught on tape trying to climb his way up the legal system ... literally.

During a routine traffic stop last week in Texas, Officer Keith Urban (yes, Keith Urban - same name, different guy) found himself being showered with attention by an extremely amorous kitty who just wouldn't take no for an answer.

With his patrol car dash-cam picking up the whole incident, this courageous kitty approaches the officer with laser intensity and promptly helps himself to Officer Urban's pant leg. He then climbs up Urban's leg and manages to traverse his shoulders, ending up on Officer Urban's head, all while Officer Urban is attempting to proffer a citation to the motorist! HYSTERICAL! According to FOX news, the sympathetic speeding motorist offers Urban their help, as the officer has the cat clinging to his head.

Turkey for me, Turkey for you, Turkey for Fido + Fluffy too?

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and as we begin preparing for Turkey day festivities, let’s remember that the Thanksgiving Tradition isn’t merely about consuming mass amounts of food and succumbing to a food coma by 4pm in the afternoon. Thanksgiving is also about football games and watching enormous helium-filled Snoopys and Garfields hover above the streets of NYC in the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Waist-expanding traditions aside, Thanksgiving truly is about expressing gratitude and reminding ourselves of all the things we have to be thankful for ... not least of which is the wonderful gift of our pets! However, showing gratitude for our pets shouldn't come in the form of feeding them drippings from the turkey pan or sneaking them greasy, fatty turkey skin, as introducing rich "people food" is not good for their digestion. As well, turkey bones should never be given to our pets as they can choke on bone splinters.

Instead, show your pet gratitude by giving them a special belly rub, extra pets and walks and feed them healthy treats and chews that promote good health.

Include your pet in Thanksgiving festivities with fun and healthy products

Here are some of our favorite Thanksgiving pet toys, pet treats and accessories to make your pet's Thanksgiving extra special and fun.

Titan the World's Tallest Dog

Titan the Worlds Tallest Dog: The Daily Treat

You saw him here first!

Last week, it was announced by the Guinness World Records that Titan the Great Dane is now the World's Tallest Dog.  Titan happens to live in my neck of the woods here in Southern California and I suddenly realized that I'd seen him somewhere recently ... but where? Upon further inspection, I remembered that Titan indeed made an appearance in The Daily Treat's "Fun with a Kissing Booth" video just a few months ago (see pic at right), along with his mom Diana Taylor.

At 42.25 inches tall and 190 lbs, the 4-year-old Dane from San Diego is deaf, epileptic and partly blind, and was adopted by proud mom Diana Taylor from a rescue group in Tennessee. Taylor was living in Atlanta when she found Titan as a pup on Petfinder and ultimately adopted him from the Middle Tennessee Great Dane Rescue. When he could see out of one eye, she taught him sign language. As he went blind, they learned to communicate by touch.

Titan replaced previous record-holder Gibson, a Great Dane from Northern California who died earlier this year after fighting bone cancer, the Associated Press reports. Gibson measured a little shorter than Titan, at 42.2 inches.

Taylor plans to throw a party for Titan to celebrate, complete with her dog's favorite treats, but it seems he has already started to rejoice: when Titan heard the news, the pooch slobbered all over his official Guinness certificate, Taylor told Sign On San Diego.

The Dog Toy to Destroy: Osama Bone Laden

11/16/2009

I was told that is NOT his middle finger.

Now Fido can officially rip Osama Bone Laden a new one.

First there was the Michael Vick squeaky dog toy  and now your dog can have a shot at the nation's most wanted terrorist ... Osama 'Bone' Laden.

Created by BIS Dog + BIS Cat company, the Osama Bone Laden chew toy is a unique dog toy designed for the dog that is inclined to rip apart just about any dog toy placed in front of them. Reason being, this little plush terrorist may not have a soul or conscience, but it does have a tasty rawhide chew-bone sewn inside. Now, instead of a plastic squeaker that your pet tries to ingest or that you throw away, your dog can enjoy the chew-bone for hours or days later. Osama Bone Laden is one of a collection of Bony Babies dog toys that BIS Dog + BIS Cat launched earlier this year.

According to Richard Shiu of BIS Dog + BIS CAT, other contenders for their line of toys included Al "Ca-bone" and Napoleon Bone-apart.

In the event you are not comfortable bringing a tiny terrorist into your home, check out the collection of other darling Bony Babies, such as Oscar the Dog and Trixie the Cat at BestinShowSF.com.

Just don't lose this lil' terrorist in the yard because you'll likely never find it again.

My personal mission is to bring you a daily dose of "creature culture" with the goal to inspire, connect, educate and entertain. More Janet >
