Where Does Your Dog Hide When It Thunders Outside?

03/23/2012

Does your dog do this?

While thunder and lightning may make some of us want to curl up next to a fire and drink cocoa, it can have a somewhat different effect on our pets.

One of my dogs, Kiki, (from Southern California Vizla Rescue) gets very nervous when it is even remotely sprinkling outside -- because she is afraid that the thunder is coming -- and she hides in the most random places. The Thundershirt and homeopathic calming remedies definitely help reduce her anxiety, but I have found her in some mighty creative hiding places, including:

1) The Tub

2) A drawer in my closet

3) Under blankets (see Exhibit A)

4) In a filing cabinet (see Exhibit B)

5) On my person (see exhibit C)

Where does your dog or cat find refuge when they are anxious?
