Cow Herd Warmly Welcomes Boxer Pup [VIDEO]

Your Daily Dose of Cuteness
Check out how a welcoming committee of cows approaches a 6-month old boxer pup during her leisurely walk through their pasture. At first the cows seem a bit concerned by the adolescent intruder, Lucy, but as soon as she lays down, the cows sense her non-confrontational body language, relax and commence a bonafide sniffing festival.
The only thing I'm wondering about is what exactly the cows might be smelling on the pup's muzzle? Uh, based upon the type of dog-food that Lucy eats, could it be that they might be picking up the smell of one of their brethren? I hope not. Either way, this video makes me want to swear off beef - at least until the next time someone offers me some rolled tacos.
Enjoy!

They are smelling her muzzle because farms animals LOVE dog food. Dog food is made mostly of grains. We had sheep, cattle and goats, and they would all try to get to the dogfood.

People view animals like cows as stupid, unclean, as food or otherwise useless. However, in this video, the cows are so cute and inquisitive! Watching them smell the puppy and the black one leap back and kick its hooves up reminds me of dogs! If only people would spend a few moments examining seemingly invisible societal structures that are ingrained, such as how people view certain animals, then perhaps people would at least try harder to get animals to have better treatment in factories if still wanting to eat them.

I hate to be the downer on this adorable video (and it is adorable), but this is really unsafe. Any one of those cows could severely injure or kill that puppy, even accidentally. As a soon to be veterinarian I feel like I have to warn people: don't just go plopping your puppy in a herd of cows to film an adorable moment. It could SO easily end really poorly. Having seen a puppy that was accidentally kicked by a horse and had irreversible spinal cord damage, I know how sad an injury like that can be :(

Doesn't look safe but at the same time it's cute. Such a calm pup; my dog would have been freaking out at that age if several animals the size of a cow surrounded him. Especially with them all being so close to her face like that. Nope, my Bruno would be very upset.

This is so interesting! I especially love the black cow who is scared but then curious about the visitor. These cows are great to watch. And the dog is such a peace maker.

That boxer pup is so lucky that the cows didn't kick him.

Great video. The cows are all genuinely interested in the doogie and the doggie is loving the attention.
