Amazing Commando Dog Helped Snare Bin Laden
05/05/2011
Have any of you noticed that the video coverage/footage of the raid on Osama BL's Pakistan compound last week featured a dog barking in the background? Hearing that barking made me wonder what became of the furry soul involved in that military operation. As of today, we have our answer!
A Bin Laden Hunter on Four Legs
As it turns out, along with the 79 commandos who raided Osama bin Laden's compound was a war dog! Yes, The New York Times reports that along with those Navy Seals was a trusty, heavily-armored, explosive-sniffing pup, who, according to The Sun in the U.K., was strapped to an assault team member and lowered into Bin Laden's hideout from a Black Hawk helicopter. The military has been training dogs, just like the Seals, to be dropped into hostile territory from 25,000 feet in the air. Who knew that these amazing dogs were now being trained to jump from helicopters?! To ensure their safety, they are given oxygen masks for helicopter jumps as well as helmets with videocameras for remote monitoring. Super cool huh?!
These specially trained furry soldiers are trained to attack anyone carrying a weapon and have become a pivotal part of special operations as they crawl unnoticed into tunnels or rooms to hunt for enemy combatants. The cameras on their heads beam live TV pictures back to the troops, providing them with critical information and warning of ambushes. Dogs were also used in the capture of Saddam Hussein and in the killing of the Iraqi dictator's two sons.
The Daily Treat sends fourteen paws up to the amazing two and four-legged heros that are serving their country and doing us proud!
GlobalAnimal.org speculates that the breed of dog in this mission was most likely a German Shepherd.

Im sorry but where did you get your facts for this.. There could never have been 79 commandos on 2 helicopters then to one. and 25,000 feet is abut 5 miles in the air.. wrong????

Was the dog left there or was he/she taken back on the helicopter when the SEALS left the compound?

When you riddle an interesting story full of made up filler to complete your story, make sure that your 'filler' is credible. Commando's don't jump out of helicopters at 25,000 feet. Helicopters typically do not exceed 1 mile. Helicopters are typically known for their hovering and low flying (as to avoid radar) abilities.
You guys should think before diluting an otherwise great story with distorted facts. I found myself laughing at your mistakes rather than enjoying an otherwise informative story.
You should be embarrassed.

If this is true.. I am so proud of these dogs..I just hope that they got out of there also..I hope they were not used as baits.

Thanks for your comments! Indeed 79 soldiers were not crammed into one helicopter, and according to White House reports, there were multiple helicopters used in this raid. This story was written with the facts provided by the The Sun UK as of last night, and while a bit more detail has come out today regarding this military operation, the Military still remains mum on much of the specifics.
We appreciate your clarifications - our intent of this story was enlighten readers on the amazing bravery of our two and four-legged soldiers who are fighting for our country!

I'm sure they took the dog back on the copper.. If you spend months on training a dog to be a war dog then you just don't leave it there.. It's like a normal team member for those guys..

We waste more resources on extinguishing the fire how much have you put on trying to discover the cause of the fire; killing imprisoning solve nothing because you are not addressing the problem that brought about the acts of Osama Bin Laden I don't support neither but support those who will spent on coming up with an ever lasting solution, both sides have spent resources sponsoring killing and brought about orphans and suffering, we should have enjoyed these resources instead of killing each other: GOD guide us.

People see dogs as pets and purse accessories, but they are actually working with police officers, firemen, and the military to protect us every day. Thanks so much furry little friends!

Cool. This reminds me of the other dog, the puppy remember, thrown into the air and hard on the desert floor by one of our beloved soldiers. Probably died. This canine was lucky not to get shot or blown up like many other K-9s. Next we can use whatever dolphins survived in the gulf for military commando ops aswell to catch those dastardly bad guys. god bless this great nation.
