Merengue Dog Dazzles More Than Most DWTS Contestants

Video: Dog Rocks It in Sparkly Satin Green Jumper, Dazzles Crowd
The video of an amazingly talented and well-trained dog named Carrie, aka The Dancing Merengue Dog, is making the rounds today, and if you haven’t seen it, you are not going to believe how this dog can work a room (or in this case the parking lot) in a satin green sparkly jumper ensemble. The way she can move on the dance floor rivals most of the people we've seen on "Dancing With The Stars" in fact, I am going to come right out and say that her stage presence and cheery disposition make her more talented than a good number of the half-wits featured on the show.
Mad Merengue Skills
What I find especially amazing to me are the combination paw-to-hand spins under her partners arm and her ability to remember all those crazy steps - BACKWARDS! I only hope her little spine isn't strained too much from continually dancing around in that somewhat unnatural, upright position.
Do you suppose she and her dance partner get into dramatic and/or pissy arguments about who is working harder just like the folks on Dancing With The Stars? God only knows, but I do hope she gets the motherlode of treats and lots extra playtime for her incredible patience and focus. What dance routine you suppose is next for Carrie? Single Ladies? Alejandro? California Grrls?
Check Carrie out in action! [via Huffington Post]

Just amazing trained pet,,Excellent !!!

I love this dog. She is so talented, has the best disposition, and seems to be enjoying what she's doing. However I hope that she doesn't develop back problems due to her upright position.Anyway work it lil doggie.

I think this is animal abuse

Isn't this breed known for hip problems? I finished watching the video with a heavy heart. I don't think the dog was having fun at all.

This video should be banned. Are these people thinking this dog is doing this for fun? It is just trying to be like the 'pack' by standing and dancing like his pack-mates. It is shameful and disgusting that such videos are promoted on Discovery.

This is a great dog with a great master, and I think she likes what she's doing, cuz she doesn't miss a beat, and is on tempo ,probably more than I'ld be. She more precious than gold , and her dancing might bring on better genes for the improvement of her kind- who knows? SALUTE to both of you -great team and foot,..er paw works! Godbless!

This guy loves his dog. Check up for information about them at YouTube. Don't make assumption about cruelty here.

Excellent , great performance. For the idiots that say this is animal abuse. You don't know what animal abuse is and what they look like when someone is abusing an animal. Educated yourself stupid. This dog is well kept and taken care of and he is a celebrity now. Dumbasses.

"I only hope her little spine isn't strained too much from continually dancing around in that somewhat unnatural, upright position."
Ya think?! And yet you promote this kitsch junk on your site? The dog will probably have spinal nerve damage at about 7 or 8 years of age.
OH look! It's wearing a dress too!! What an utterly despicable spectacle.

PEOPLE. Carrie wouldn't do this stuff unless she wanted to. You people who are "dog people" aren't at all adept at reading dog body language at all, because if you were, you'd see that she is VERY happy doing what she's doing. It is a VERY unique situation, and not all dogs, especially retrievers, can do something like this so gracefully.
That said, sure, of course there is worry about back problems. But normally the kind of dogs who do "parlor tricks" like this are small dogs like poodles and chihuahuas. Do you ever worry about THEIR backs? I do, because my chihuahua likes to sit up on his hind legs and wave at me...for hours at a time, if we let him. Did I teach him to do that? NO. He does it all on his own for some reason (he's a rescue). I try to make sure he isn't hurting himself, but he does it to get my attention/to get his back scratched. Lots of chihuahuas like to sit up like that. I think Carrie thinks she's either a chi or a poodle, LOL. Appreciate that Carrie looks like she is enjoying her life. Lots of bigger dogs don't get that luxury in their shorter lives (the bigger the dog, the shorter the life). I love Carrie and kudos to Animal Planet for showing the world how special Carrie is.

Oh, it doesn't matter what video one posts; as soon as an animal steps into the frame someone is crying animal abuse. I posted a video on YouTube of my iguana swimming in a bathtub (iguanas are adept swimmers, and ordinarily being quite sedentary creatures is one of the only real workouts they get), and eventually disabled comments because people were accusing me of cruelty and "trying to drown" her! She was in only a few inches of water and could in fact stand up on the bottom of the tub in the shallow end (the tub bottom slopes so as to be more comfortable to lie in) without even wetting her chin, and there was plenty of grip for her to do so. You can see her standing there, safe and sound, at the end of the clip. Plus, to be filming her activity, I was clearly supervising her; you can tell that I'm holding the camera, my hand isn't that steady.
I'm not saying I'm certain that Carrie isn't a victim -- just that it's not fair to jump to that conclusion from watching this 3-minute video. Also, a dog especially doesn't care if it's wearing a dress. Any given dog would roll around in poop and wear it for hours if you let it.
