The Top 5 Fall Trends for Furry Fashionistas
09/18/2009
Fresh from the runways of Pet Fashion Week 2009, I've sniffed out the most furrociously fierce fall trends for pets this season. Whether you’re a furry fashionista, a furry frugalista or a little bit of both, these fresh fall looks are sure to make you and your pet best in show.
1) Punk Locks: Irreverent Dog ‘do’s

Inspired by Prada’s Fall 2009 runway looks, its all about frizzy, teased hair this season, a look which an increasing number of pooches can successfully pull off! A shampoo and shine is simply not enough for many pampered pooches, as an increasing number of pups are being trimmed and transformed into something altogether different this season. Inspired by creative Japanese grooming techniques, popular fall dog-‘do’s can have your dog resembling anything from a teddy bear, lion, triceratops or in this case, a Rockadoodle! If your dog simply doesn’t have enough hair to rock this look, try giving them some flair with a pet tattoo instead from wildthingzpettattoos.com
2) Funky Collar Flair
Add funky flair to last season’s collar or give a fresh look to your favorite harness with fun and fanciful fall embellishments and accessories. Whether your pup prefers flora, fauna, old school pin-up girls or goth glam, you can stretch extra servings out of last season’s fare by adding one of these little wardrobe extenders to your pet’s repertoire! Our faves: Handmade floral collar applique’s from Mimi Green and old school charms from BOWHAUSNYC.
3) Modern Muttropolitan Furnishings
This fall, new pet furniture designs embrace minimalist sensibilities, both form and function, and feature clean, crisp modern design that can compliment any room. Enduring the hideousness of an ugly old dog bed or cat bowl juxtaposed against your carefully selected home décor is a thing of the past with the beautifully constructed designs from industry newcomers Scamper and Snooze and These Creatures.
4) Faux Fur AccentsMany of our favorite designers are showing a great selection of faux-fur trimmed coats and hoodies this season and now your pup can rock the look too with snuggly embellished hoodies and coats that offer a touch of fur that offers just enough warmth and fuzziness. Whether your pooch prefers to channel rocker chic, boho glam or urban grunge, there is a look for every wild thing in your pack this season. Check out new doggy design-house Scarlett Dream Coats beautiful creations for both small and large dogs.
5) Bow Wow: Ready to Wear for Pup’s Hair
Hip, flirty hair clips and bows are back this season especially with young celebrity divas such as Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga and now your pup can rock the look too! Whether your dog loves shoes, Sherlock Holmes, suds or sugary sparkle, there is signature bow just for them. Check out the collections at Hot Bows or Cece Kent.

Ahoy Animal-Planet folks!
Over the years we've had 8 Kittens/Cats, & 2 Dogs. Each was a wondrous companion. My query is: why the almost total neglect (prize selection) of feline friends?
