Kelly Currin Morris Case Update
November 18, 2009
Yesterday, authorities in North Carolina recovered human skeletal remains that they believed belonged to Kelly Currin Morris, a 28-year-old mother of two, who vanished on Sept 3, 2008. A press conference that took place this afternoon was expected to provide more details regarding the discovery; however it ultimately proved to raise more questions than answers.
According to Granville County Sheriff Brindell Wilkins, his department received information on Monday that led police to the wooded area where the remains were recovered but he refused to comment further.
"We're doing the best we can,” Wilkins said. “I don't want to mess up anything we're doing by things getting out."
While Wilkins provided very little information on the remains, Kelly's family has stated that the remains were positively identified using dental records.
Meanwhile, new details have surfaced regarding the arrest of Kelly's husband, 35-year-old William "Scott" Morris. According to the arrest warrant, Morris has been charged with first-degree murder. He also faces a charge of fraudulently burning a dwelling. Morris is being held at the Granville County Detention Center without bond. His first court appearance has been scheduled for Dec. 2.
In related news, Chief District Court Judge Daniel Finch has signed an emergency order, granting Kelly's father and stepmother – Pat and Juanita Currin – custody of Scott and Kelly's 6-year-old daughter. A formal custody hearing is set to take place Friday.

Wow. What a horrible twist in this case. Why are law enforcement agents not saying how the body was identified?

It was identified by detal records. They suspect his father helped him cover it up? Unreal.

Completely sick of this 'Criminal Report Daily' "blog".
It should probably be renamed "One of a cycle of 4 missing people biweekly".
When was the last time that it actually contained a criminal report...
No wonder you were given your marching orders.
*sigh* shame crimelibrary didn't continue the news section.

Edited by David Lohr to add: It has been biweekly the last few months. ID had me working in other areas of the site and then they laid me off all together. I have not been getting paid for the posts I have been making as of late. If you have an issue with this I suggest you take it up with viewer relations.

Hey Marg if this isn't suiting you then why don't you go read something else, there are plenty of news sites that might interest you.
David, keep up the good work and updates. We all understand the tough economy and working in less than ideal circumstances.

agreed James, I guess covering the Less Glamourous cases meant to appease the Blood Thirsty Ambulance Chasing Crowd isnt favored by People who fail to understand the importance of ALL Cases being heard. THere would be more resolve to Missing Persons and COld cases if the Press gave them the Coverage required to make them Mainstream. Marg..maybe rotten dot com is more your speed. Its nothing but noble when a Man reports on his own time, it indicates Passion. And how many TIMES are you going to come on here under different aliases bashing him for his Work? You should be Thanking him for his service. If it was one of YOUR family members missing or Lost how would YOU feel if the AP didnt think their story was sensational enough to be heard by the Mainstream? People like you dont care about Justice for the Victims or Finding the Lost...you get off on reading the unfortunate accounts of Those Victims and I have nothing but Pity for you. good day.

please forgive that brief emotional outburst, after re-reading it i realized in the first sentence i left out "not intended to appease the bloodthirsty ambulance chasing types". but i think you got what i meant by it. Some people read, study, nd analyze crime because they Care, and want to help, or make a difference, and show their support during times of hardship...others simply get off on the idea of "psychological identification with the offender"...those types i have nothing for.

Thanks for continuing to make these updates.
I've mentioned it before, your blog opened my eyes to what a huge issue this is. Literally 100's of thousands of people go missing just in the US alone.
I'll always appreciate what your doing. IMO, reporting on just a handful of people still helps raise awareness on the whole issue. In addition, you've posted in the past how we can get involved in missing person searches. Your posts are not in vain.

Thanks for the update David.
I find it ironic that someone would bash you for volunteering time to keep people informed... or for continuing this labor of love all this time.
Keep us updated on your future pursuits. I followed you to here from Crime Library and I'll follow you to wherever you land. Gary Petersen with Equisearch is working with one of my friends right now and seems to have a bit of respect for you, so I know you're a good guy.

I like the shows on investigative channel, but I can never find the recently shown programs to follow up on. Like yesterday I was interested in 2 stories, but I could not find them on the web. One was a husband who strangle his wife with a dog line then left her in an abandoned SUV. Another one was on Dr. Parade.
Last Last week, I saw one of a love triange involving teenagers. Just wondering how to find them or to find a contact to the station.
