What Happened to Leigh Marine Occhi?
July 16, 2009
I will be in Mississippi this coming week to research the mysterious disappearance of Leigh Marine Occhi, a 13-year-old girl who went missing from her Tupelo home in August 1992.
According to police, foul play is suspected. Please contact me if you have any information on the case. Otherwise, be sure to check back here late next week to read about it.

This is totally off of the topic. I meant to mention this before thinking it wasn't important but since there are not loads of comments for you to filter through, I will ask you. When did the phrase "went missing" become popular? It sounds so, strange, to me. I couldn't remember what I thought was "normal" until this past week. Disappeared. That's it. Why don't we say Jane Doe disappeared...? Just curious. It sounds so much better. But, of course, that is just my opinion. Went missing sounds like very young people in the world trying to be different for no other reason than,to be different, which probably defeats their purpose of looking more intelligent, modern, or whatever. Improvements over the past are great, if they really improve. Let's keep what great about the past, but fix what isn't great. There, that is simple. It's Sunday. I'm dreaming!

What a horrible thing for that family! I hope they find her. Also, if a child goes missing, don't authorities automatically suspect "foul play"? Aside from the girl actually running away, the only other option is that she was taken, right?
