Stacy Peterson Found? Get all the Latest Details

Investigators in Will County, Ill, are trying to determine the identity of partial human skeletal remains that have been found on the shores of the Des Plaines River, near the Big Basin Marina. The discovery has since led to speculation that the remains could be that of Stacy Peterson or Lisa Stebic.

The human remains were found by a river cleanup crew at about 2:00 p.m. yesterday and were removed from the scene by Will County coroner's staff at 7:50 p.m.  Police have yet to comment on the gender or condition of the remains.

"We're not identifying whether or not it's male or female. It would be very premature to do that. Nor are we making an attempt to associate with any current investigation. We would be very premature to do that," said Master Sgt. Tom Burek, Illinois State Police.

Regardless of the lack of information being released by police, tidbits of information have leaked to the media, including allegations that the remains were clad only in woman's underwear and that a blue barrel was found a mile downstream. In addition, a source close to the investigation has told Investigation Discovery that the remains, which are badly decomposed, are of the lower portion of a human body. The source claims that nothing above the waist has been recovered.

An autopsy on the remains was scheduled to be conducted at 9:30 a.m. today. The results of that autopsy have not yet been released.

Have they done a DNA testing? ask the people who found the skeleton to show where and how the skeleton was posistion.

Drew's confidence leads me to believe that Stacey was cremated and is gone forever. But I hope that if Stacey is dead that they have found her and that Drew can get what he deserves. She was beautiful and her boys loved her and now they are left with a father who has shown them that four wives and the killing of two is okay as long as you have a good reason and can get away with it.

I hope those boys grow up normal.

In the press I saw a report that what was found was: the torso - ribs, spine, pelvis with upper legs still attached.

It's also been reported that a preliminary autopsy could not provide an identity so a complex DNA test would be required -- taking several weeks to conclude.

Kim I am inclined to believe the same theory that both the barrel and Stacy may have been cremated. We could be wrong anything is possible but just dumping a body along the river bank if your Drew does not fit especially with his police training. With a body they have a real case and he knows that! What is disturbing is another set of remains being found near the river. Maybe this is a dumping ground for killers or a serial killer if these remains do not come from Stacy or Lisa.
