Search Underway at Anthony Family Home
December 11, 2008
According to Orange County sheriff's spokesman Angelo Nieves, investigators have obtained the search warrant that they were seeking for the house of George and Cindy Anthony. The house has been taped off with crime scene tape and investigators are examining it for evidence.
It is believed the search is related to the discovery of a small child's remains that were discovered not far from the house earlier today. While a positive identification is still pending, they are believed to be the remains of Casey Anthony's missing two-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony.
According to Tim Miller, founder and director of Texas EquuSearch, he was at the scene where the remains were found earlier today. During an interview with Nancy Graze, Miller said that there was an indentation in the ground, suggesting that they had been there for several months.
The child's remains have since been sent to the FBI crime lab in Quantico, Virginia, where experts are conducting expedited testing to identify the remains.
Investigators plan on conducting another search of the area where the remains were found again tomorrow. They plan on examining the soil and collecting any potential evidence that remains in the area.
Meanwhile, sources at the Orange County Jail are saying that Casey Anthony was "visibly shaken" when she received news of today's discovery. A mental health professional was sent to the jail to meet with her, at which time she was allegedly given a sedative to calm her nerves. Anthony is currently under psychological observation.
Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, spoke briefly with reporters this evening about today's discovery.
"I understand the circumstances as they are would lead most people to believe that these are Caylee's remains. But I must stress it's not," Baez said. "People have been wrong before. So unfortunately we can't make any comments and I think it would be inappropriate for me to make any comments until the medical examiner's office makes their determination. Once that determination is made…this obviously takes the case in a different direction but I have done and am doing everything I can as Casey’s representative and attorney to put us in the position to defend her."
George and Cindy have yet to comment on any of today's developments. They flew into Orlando from California late this afternoon. Sheriff's deputies reportedly met with them at the airport, at which time they were transported to an unknown location.

It's obvious why she's "visibly shaken"... THAT'S BECAUSE SHE DID IT!!!!

>>But I must stress it's not," Baez said.
How does Baez know this? And why does he go on to say that we can't make any comments, and it would be inappropriate blah blah blah, after making this comment?
If he doesn't make it as an attorney, he may have a future in politics.

Well, I have tried and tried to stay fair and maintain the presumed innocence that Casey Anthony has a right to. I even believe that I could be an impartial juror - looking only at what evidence is presented at trial to render a verdict...but I must say that latest discovery breaks my heart. I will wait to hear from the Medical Examiner and for the results from Quantico - but I admit that it doesn't look good and the sadness of the whole situation is getting to me tonight. I'm sad that a little girl is gone before she really lived. I'm sad that grandparents are struggling with the painful realization that their granddaughter is probably dead and their own daughter is probably a murderer. I'm even sad for a mentally disturbed woman who felt her only option, at some point, was to get rid of her daughter in order to pursue her youthful fun. It's just overwhelmingly sad.
I know how much hate there is out there for this entire family but I just feel sadness. When I was troubled as a child and young adult, I had the firm guidance of my parents, followed with support when I made correct choices. I'm not sure if Casey Anthony had this in the correct proportions to develop into a self confident and accomplished adult. I'm not of the opinion that sociopaths are born. I believe that the condition is a result of many occurrences and unresolved situations in a normal person's life and although it doesn't excuse any person for the act of murder, it still makes me sad. I just wish that everyone in that family could've gotten therapy or counseling when it was indicated, early on. Now, their lives are shredded and much of the entire world is grieving.
When the forensics come back, we'll know more. We may not know the whole story of this sad, sad family, but I do hope that the child can be laid to rest and the world can put this huge energy into finding all lost or missing children.

I am deeply saddened by the discovery as well. Even though the mind knew Caylee was gone, the heart didnt want to believe it.
I was feeling pretty bad for the grandparents until I saw CNN announce their return to Larry King show friday. What the heck is wrong with these people. How can they think of being on tv at a time like this? Is that really more important than planning your precious grandchild's funeral? I guess they have to move on to Plan B spin. Disgusting.

Bring the Death Penalty back to the table.

Maybe with this body found, the truth can finally come out. It has been such a strange case. And so sad for everyone involved.

Sad...shock...is what I feel. Not because I had a shred of hope that she was alive, but because I didn't think her remains would be found. I felt sad that Caylee's Grandparents would have to spend Christmas not knowing...now a small part of me feels relief for this family, they can quit living on false hope and move on and mourn their loss.

Does anyone know when the DNA results will be in so we can find out if this is little Caylee? I haven't been able to get an answer in online searches.

Does anyone feel that the boyfriend Tony was involved? If you notice in the jail interview with Casey and her mom. Casey says they don't believe her and Cindy says well that is because they think you guys did something to her. I just have a feeling that he may be involved more than he is saying.

I know there is not any sympathy out there for Casey Anthony but honestly, with just knowing what I know from the media and looking over this girls behavior, she is psychotic. I think she has had a deep mental breakdown from reality; I think she has believed her own lies that the daughter she murdered is off at Disney and the beach. When she was told about the discovery it ripped her fantasy world wide open and it doesn't surprise me she was violently ill.
No one but a complete whacko would "show the police my office" when she knew she didn't have an office! Somehow in her own mind she would still be able to carry off this fantasy while showing the police around the grounds of her "workplace"? C'mon! Does this strike anyone as someone in their right mind?
Again, I know there isn't a great deal of kindness being shown Casey, and perhaps rightfully so, but this girl is mentally ill if there ever was one. Although I don't think this qualifies her for an insanity deal; wait though to see Baez offer it though.
When it comes to the Anthony's I cannot understand why they have not opened their home to the police prior to this? Even if it was their daughter who commited the crime, how can you not want to know the truth? This actually saddens me more thinking they may have tried to join Casey in her fantasy, and even try to cover up her misdeeds.

I agree with you BeckyM. There is certainly something wrong with Casey mentally and emotionally. Blatant lies, weird comments, and a detachment from reality and from her daughter even before she went missing.
Like many others, I think Casey experienced ongoing sexual abuse when growing up. IMO many of her actions and attitudes point to it. Such a shame that what ever that abuser did years ago has created this royally messed up woman.

thats like giving her a treat.
she should have to feel every bit of the stress SHE has caused!

Did the grandparents do the Friday show with Larry King?

Mounting evidence supports the theory that this is more and more like the Jonbenet Ramsay case.
