A Day of Crazy Developments in the Caylee Anthony Case
November 10, 2008
There have been some crazy developments in the case of Casey Anthony and her missing 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony.
As you are aware, Tim Miller, director and founder of Texas EquuSearch, announced yesterday that the search for Caylee was being suspended. Tim said that he felt he had done all he could to find Caylee right now and that he needed to move on to help the family of another missing person.
While all of this was going on yesterday, bounty hunter Leonard Padilla approached Tim and told him that he needed to send divers into the Little Econ River in Blanchard Park. Padilla was convinced that Caylee would be found in the water there, based upon the discovery of a cross necklace that EquuSearch team member Lisa Hoffman had found on a nearby tree during the first search effort. That necklace, according to Padilla, had beads on it that were "identical" to beads that the female bounty hunter (the one who stayed in the house when Casey was out on bond) had seen on jewelry that Casey had allegedly made.
Leonard's theory was that Casey Anthony had transported a deceased Caylee to the park, hung the cross on a tree branch and then threw her in the water.
"I had my people use side-scan sonar to examine that water yesterday and then I went back myself and checked it again," Tim Miller said today in an interview with Investigation Discovery. "I told Leonard that it only takes an hour to scan it and that we had put four or five hours into it just so there would be no question as to whether she was there. I can tell you where every tire is at, I can show you where there is a bucket, where there is an old wheelbarrow and fender from a car. I can show you how deep the water is in every place and what the water temperature is. There is not a body in there."
Despite the fact that Tim had cleared the river, Leonard contacted an amateur news site and made the announcement during a live Internet feed. What followed was a media frenzy, which has left Tim Miller with a sour taste in his mouth.
"We are associated in no way with the actions of Leonard Padilla," Tim told Investigation Discovery. "
Tim also expressed that he was upset with CNN's Nancy Grace, whom he also finds at fault.
"Nancy Grace wanted me to come do her show tonight and I said absolutely not," Tim said. "I told her producer that this is the "Leonard Padilla Show" and that I did not want anything to do with it. I said this is not Leonard's fault, this is Nancy Grace's fault. She puts the clown on TV every night to entertain the public and as a result that has distracted everyone from everything we have been trying to do out here. It is the Leonard Padilla show now and Nancy Grace gave him the power to do it. Leonard has a fan club out there and it has totally turned this into a circus."
Leonard did end up getting a team of divers in the water today. While that search was going on, George and Cindy Anthony arrived on the scene and argued with Padilla about a vigil he is going to have for Caylee tomorrow morning. Cindy told Padilla that he was not doing anything good for Caylee and then threatened to sue him.
Cindy also made a stop at the command post today, during which time she had a pleasant meeting with Tim Miller.
Meanwhile, nothing at all was found during Padilla's search effort.
In regards to Padilla's future search efforts, Tim Miller had this to say:
"I do not care what he does; I just don’t want anything to do with any of it. This is not about Caylee to them. The Anthony's are being exploited by all of them and it affects our effort. Everyone wants to go over there with Leonard and his drama show BS. It is affecting the concentration of what we are trying to do. "
In related news, despite the fact that Tim Miller and his core team are leaving for N.C., a group of local EquuSearch members are now going to continue the search. They will keep Tim notified of any developments and will be in regular contact with one of the search coordinators.
I will be leaving here tomorrow morning and will be riding with EquuSearch, in the command center RV, to North Carolina, where I will remain until Friday.

Leonard's heart is in the right place-I believe that.

Thank you for the update David. I guess this pretty much confirms my gut feelings, about padilla using cnn and visa versa. I would rather that cnn had only REAL investigators on this case. Seasoned professionals only. Like Tim. Like yourself. Good luck in NC I hope that you find Kelly M.
Am sorry that I cannot be there to help. And Im sorry that no one found Caylee. I only hold the anthony's (all of them) at fault for THAT.
Stay safe and thanks for the updates. Im going to be letting go of little Caylee; like Law Enforcement I believe her to be DEAD, and I believe every Family Member knows exactly where she is. Hence, their behavior. Very sad.
Im going to remember the good things about Caylee, how she liked to dress up, her reading books, singing and dancing.
And try not to remember she woke up to a hung over bitch every morning, who never wanted her in the first place.
Being a spiteful $#!^ really runs in that family it looks like. Caylee was doomed she never had a chance. What is so sad, is that her death could have been and should have been, prevented. and her own family won't even look for her.

Thank you for keeping us updated on this case as well as the others you have worked on. I also am not a fan on Nancy Grace nor Mr. Padilla. They have turned this into a media circus. They have taken much of the focus off locating this child and instead have worked boosting the ratings of a very RUDE and offensive Nancy Grace and pompous Padilla. Why anyone would want to be on her show is beyond me!
My heart breaks for the Anthony family. I pray that this child is found and by the grace of God, alive. Again, I thank you and Tim and all the searchers who work so hard to brings closure to the families of the lost. Cindy and George, my mother once told me, i will not always like you but I will always love you. You love your daughter and you love Caylee. How can anyone expect you to feel anyway other then you do.
Kind Regards,
Lisa

Okay, I can understand not wanting to constantly be connected with another man who has interest in this case for possibly (and again I say POSSIBLY, not DEFINITELY) personal gain. But I also have a really hard time understanding how Tim and the TE team spend a week at a time in NC, and then come down and spend two whole days searching for a little girl. They kind of played it up in a way that it was going to be 'the biggest search in history' when it turns out we've been waiting with baited breath for them to return to do a full and complete search. And then they stay for a total of TWO DAYS?? Yes, I understand he's leaving people there. But is this not important? Are all searches like this? Two-three days tops and they give up? I don't know. I'm almost inclined to cheer Padilla on in the fact that at least he's still making an effort and not 'giving up' like everyone promised they would NOT do.

Ask Leonard what he is trying to do with the photos he has...

My goodness, it seems that the search for little Caylee has turned into a circus. It is extremely important for the search team to stay focused on finding Caylee rather than becoming TV celebs. I am so disappointed that the volunteers came up empty handed again today. Everyone must be exhausted. It sounds like Tim is at the end of his rope with LP.

Best wishes to Tim and all the hard work that he does. I know it has to be hard, but other people have their own issues and agenda. He just needs to stay focused on what he can do for these victims, whether it be Caylee or someone else that is missing.
The reality is the American public is not fooled by these "jump on the bandwagon" shows. And this will have it's day in court, and hopefully justice will be served.
Kudos to you Mr. Lohr on keeping to the facts and not sensationalizing something, that is, by it's essence, sensational enough.

I hate Tim is leaving!

In this sad case, everyone seems to be profiting except that prescious child. Shame on them for exploiting this child, Caylee.

I was a volunteer during the search who helped out around the command post. I was there Sat. and Sun. During both days I watched the bounty hunter and his three friends stand around, pose for photos and hand out cards (they looked just like baseball trading cards) with their photos and information. I am not sure where NG got her info tonight, but there were no bounty hunters there other than the 4 ring circus act. The only time he did anything was when he found out they were closing down. In my opinion he did not want to loose the spotlight and at that time decided to do something, ie the divers. I know I was there.

It's hard to see Tim and TES leave Florida again. However, after 2 days of searching, by close to 2000 people, they feel they have done all possible to locate Caylee. When you put that many people on the ground, with specific sites in mind, you have done a pretty good job of clearing the area. They could stay forever, looking for dear Caylee, and still never find her.
Leonard is making a jerk out of himself, as usual. Where were the hundreds of bounty hunters? Where was Leonard and his "entourage" during the searching this weekend? Where was all the money they were going to bring to the effort?
I'll tell you where they were - non-existent !!! There were no hundreds of bounty hunters and no money. Leonard walked around posing and signing autographs, passing out his "baseball card" type business card, and even told one of the search groups that "they (LP and group), were there to bring the attention", not do to actual searching !! The gall of the man ! There was enough attention on this effort because of one other, very important person in all of this....someone who Leonard has lost site of, and that is Caylee !!
Leonard needs to get off the media bandwagon, and do something really important. He needs to really support the search efforts of the professionals. He needs to back off from the media, quit talking himself up, and quit disrupting the good things that were being done in this case. Leonard needs to quit being Leonard for a while. Take a vacation Lenny - we're all tired of you !
Oh, and what about those pics I heard he was trying to sell? Is it true that he sold one of them to the National Enquirer?

Well.
Good luck and Godspeed on this next series of searches. Be safe all of y'all. Prayers to the families of these women.
And we cannot thank you enough for putting the truth out here for us.

Slightly off topic, I think it's not right for Padilla to hold any kind of memorial service for Caylee. And I am one who believes that she is no longer with us. He is not doing it, in my opinion, to honor her, but rather to rub salt in wounds and that isn't commendable.
That's all I have to add.
Posted by: cb | November 10, 2008 at 10:18 PM
I think Tim's efforts are noble. But, since he has turned against Nancy Grace suddenly is he going to return all of the donations received from her viewers? Why didn't he turn on her way back before donations for the search were being requested of viewers? The 360 degree turnaround reeks of influence by Nejame and the Anthony family. Why now????

I wondered about this, too. I don't agree with Padilla's theory at all. The whole demeanor put me in mind of Sandy Anderson - the same kind of greed for notariety and undeserved recognition. Very sad. Takes away from the one issue that matters - Caylee and finding her.
I agree with the poster that commented that Padilla used this as a photo op. That's all I saw him do. Stand for pictures and walk around. I'd like to know how much he contributed to TES for the search and how many hours each day he was "on the hoof" actually searching. The answer might be embarassing for him.
Honestly, it seemed to me that Padilla's goal was to embarass Tim and EquuSearch by continuing the search after TES called it off - as if he was some type of superhero. Quite a disgrace in the end.
Grace and her show are insufferable at best. She'll never be an investigative reporter or an advocate for victims because she cannot let people speak and answer the questions asked RESPONSIBLY and INTELLIGENTLY. It's all about the show. The condescending tone and demeanor only further tanks the show. Perhaps that's why she loves Padilla so much and has the class of people she does on her show. Translation: no quality content but plenty to keep the trailer park crowd entertained.
It's a pity that this whole search had to focus around Padilla and Nancy Grace and the Anthony's in the end. It's truly not about any of them. Pity none of "them" get it.
Tim - Good luck in NC. I wish you the best.

Am I correct: Padilla didn't care to come back to help out on the last little bit of searching TES was doing, while the command center was being broken down, today? To me, since Padilla was brought in as part of the TES setup, for him to go off on his own agenda while TES was still trying to search this morning, was nothing but disrespectful to Tim and TES.
(OT: was that really you posting under your real name, over at The Daily BS? )
Posted by: Chippery | November 10, 2008 at 10:42 PM
I think that Mr Padilla is just trying to get his name out there... This whole thing about the cross on the tree and sending a special diver team out there is for him to be the spotlight... I wouldn't be surprised if he and his team were infact the bail bounders that were not disclosed... I think he is just upset that he didn't get her to talk the way he wanted her to... All this speculation that the cross came from the Tree is from the same type of craft kit in Casey's room is just speculation on his part and trying to keep him in the spotlight... Anybody could have put that out there as I'm sure millions of the same type of beads were sold... Unless they did fingerprinting on it than I feel it has no refelance to the case... As David Lohr I belive stated that upon their search noting was found in the lake in revalance to Caylee Anthony...
To finalize this I still in my heart belive that Caylee could very well still be alive!!!

Thanks for the info Molly. From the first time Padilla's name came up in all this I felt that he is a publicity hound. He sure made lots of noise about going to Florida from California to bail out Casey a few months back. No one heard of him before, now he's on national TV. The other parties that bailed out Casey are still anonymous, as it should be. Padilla disgusts me.
I read one of the online newspapers about the Anthony's confronting Padilla after the diving search. They're upset because Padilla is going to have a memorial service for Caylee. I don't think it's right that he's doing that. I think Caylee is dead but to have a memorial service while the family is deep in denial is insensitive and smacks of more attention seeking on his part. I think he really needs to go away and stay away from this situation.

I am not willing to praise Tim Miller here, or to "bury" Padilla. It sounds like Tim Miller's ego is a tad bruised ("Padilla show") and his angry disapproval is not for the most altruistic of reasons. I think in his own bumbling way, Mr. Padilla cares about Caylee and wants to find her. Yes, he is more histrionic than the laid back Texan, but that doesn't make him less legitimate, nor does it neuter his authenticity. I read Mr. Miller's comments three times, because I was struck by the resentment in them, and the sense that he disliked sharing the stage. I believe Padilla was genuinely excited about finding evidence and wanted to follow up on it. Mr. Miller is a hero and he is worthy of respect, however, he is indeed human and I think a bit of that humanness has seeped out here, just a little bit.

Tim Miller said he was staying until Caylee was found. TES searched for a day and a half and announced they were pulling out and heading to NC.
As a huge supporter of TES, I'm highly disappointed. Tim claimed he spent 100k on the search for Caylee. I'm guesstimating that is for both searches that he abruptly pulled out of each time. I would like to see an itemized account for 100k. Tim fails to mention total $ donations he received during the search yet added TES is broke. I personally know a lot of food and drinks were donated by many bloggers.
I feel like Tim has gotten a little too big for his britches. He's lost a lot of support. Reading on several boards it seems the majority agrees with me.
I have to commend Padilla for the Blanchard Park search. Many persons were hoping that area would be searched thoroughly. I'm not a Padilla fan but am thankful he stepped forward.
I had to get this off my chest. I'm not bashing Tim, I think he is stretching the truth to gain donations. TES does great work but I'm afraid Tim has sunk his ship.

Sri..watching Paedilla & toothpick was unpleasant!!!
Bless ALL those who joined the search {they gave their time freely - must have cost them heaps!}
POX ON ANYONE who sends Casey money so that she can shop for LUXURIES...SOMETHING THAT SHE NEVER GAVE TO CAYLEE!!!
To all those families missing loved ones who would give "their eye teeth" to have Tim Miller & Equusearch HELP THEM...my PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU!!!! {IT IS DISGUSTING THAT THE ANTHONY FAMILY ARE NON-SUPPORTIVE!!!!}
This is NOT the Leonard Paedilla SHOW...it is a search for the body of Caylee Anthony...{who IMO CASEY is guilty of her death...up to the courts to prove it!!!}

Today's show brought to us by the trashy MurtTV and Padilla was a travesty. Tim should be applauded for getting away from this group of charlatans. So many hold responsibility for encouraging the behavior including the group at the picnic table 'command post' all day long today at the river's edge (WS). I couldn't imagine being Tim, running a reputable organization for year's and this group of trash coming on the scene where he was trying to run an extensive, HONEST search for an innocent almost 3 year old. Padilla's sidekick today, Murt, was thrown out by TES on Saturday and has proven for years to be a psycho attention seeker. Good on you Tim for exposing these people for the creeps they are.

This didn't strike me as a "dynamic, up-to-the-minute blog written by an expert crime writer." It seems to be more of a childish post giving the author's friend, Tim, an outlet for his name calling in some sort of a conflict with Padilla.
I don't blame Tim for not wanting to appear on the Nancy Grace show, however. Her program is a disgrace to journalism. I can't believe he would even consider going on there again after what she did with him on the finding of that dress. He just sat there and played along as she claimed that was a "bombshell" that she was reporting as "breaking news" when he should have told the producer in advance that he and law enforcement thought it had nothing to do with the case. He looked like an extremely sad clown sitting through that and not calling Nancy out on her disgraceful reporting of it.
And Tim does now seem highly influenced by Cindy and George and their attorney. What's the deal with that? How can he say they are being exploited? Cindy tried to exploit Tim by bringing him in and trying to convince him to search for a live, not dead, Caylee. When he wouldn't go along with her because it's contrary to the evidence, she says she'll never work with him again, and she and Lee badmouth him. Now he's throwing in the towel after a couple days and only a fraction of the searching that was anticipated was done and proclaiming what Cindy and her lawyer wanted to hear. Strange. Is he going to bolt from NC after a couple days if he only gets 1,500 volunteers there? Seems kinda childish that he's decided to pack up and leave Orlando like this.

Well, well, well. Murt never mentioned that Tim Miller had already had his team clear that area.
Poor Murt - Padilla used him to try to get more publicity out of Caylee - and now Padilla will be conducting a memorial on the banks of a river that Caylee has NOT been found in?
Oh, and CNN has nothing to do with this - but the selfish, self-promoting, opportunistic, disrespecting actions of two men and their voyeuristic followers.
Caylee is nothing but a spectator sport to them.
Posted by: protectkidz | November 11, 2008 at 05:16 AM
I couldn't agree with John's comment more.
Padilla had little knowledge about the case when he planned on bailing out Casey the 1st time. Sure, he wanted some fame from it, but WHO WOULDN'T? He DID, however, have genuine and sincere intent to get Casey to speak-which she failed to do.
Just because Padilla is outspoken about his ideas and theories and doesn't articulate himself all professional-like when on the Nancy Grace show doesn't mean that you must discredit what he's saying.
Why is everyone bashing Nancy Grace, by the way?
Nancy is an intelligent woman who YES-may be argumentative and loud-but she DOES have a heart and care about missing children-including Caylee!
Don't hate on her/her show all because she benefits from higher ratings! Regardless-she is STILL bringing national attention to Casey's horrid mind/lies and this case in general. She has done nothing but show respect towards the parents of Casey [more than I would towards them, anyway!] and she keeps everyone updated with new evidence.
About the vigil that Padilla is having for Caylee-
Most of the people attending the vigil are those who donated/searched for Caylee over this last weekend.
I don't see anything WRONG with him having all of the searchers join for a vigil following that massive search?!!
That search meant a lot to ALL OF THE VOLUNTEERS-And in their minds this vigil will be their own little "goodbye" to Caylee.... Besides, all of the vigils the Anthonys have held include the words "we know you're alive" in them which is NOT a proper vigil. Poor Caylee is receiving prayers from the Anthonys that only back up Casey's lies.
Of course CINDY and her follower husband George are going to have a problem with tthis vigil; They simply don't like Padilla becuase he has publicized all of their lies and home activity! It has nothing to do with the vigil itself because many people have held other vigils outside of the Anthony family without dispute.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE WANTING TO GATHER & PRAY FOR CAYLEE? The Anthonys should be thankful for any and all blessings sent out to Caylee! To ridicule Padilla for that is insane! Sure, he may have wanted to be in the spotlight, but holding a vigil for Caylee isn't going to make his newly found fame any more famous!
If my son were missing [God forbid] I would LOVE to know that people were praying for him-dead or alive! A prayer is a prayer, and even if my enemies were praying for him-I wouldn't care!
I personally think that Cindy feels an inner GUILT at seeing others reaching out to Caylee bc she KNOWS deep down that Padilla/others sincerely care, and she hates herself for not being able to be true to Caylee and stop protecting Casey!
The ONLY PEOPLE who have turned this poor child's disappearance into any type of circus have been: CASEY for lying continuously, CINDY for lying and failing to search for Caylee and those TRASHY PROTESTERS who went beyond sign holding and started acting like riff-raff.
Leonard thought that bailing out Casey would get her to speak, she refused to, he later gossiped about how screwed up her attitude was, he planned on revoking her bond until she got arretsed for fraud charges, he's held fundraisers [unlike the fundraising Lee Anthony did ;-) ] to help find Caylee, he's offered big money 4 people to call him with info. and this whole time he's been taking a big risk with his reputation regardless of any "fame".
Cindy hates Padilla because he calls her out on her denial.
George doesn't hate Padilla.
Lee hates Padilla because he called him out on his fund collecting.
Law enforcement loves Padilla because he has observed and brainstormed and spoken out like ANY of us would do if we were in his position and cared.
Tim Miller has resentment towards Padilla now since he feels that Padilla was implying that his search team didn't search well enough when he wanted to take it upon himself to find Caylee.
To me, the fact that Padilla took the time and money to search for Caylee in that spot that he was SURE he'd find her in just speaks VOLUMES as far as his passion goes in hopes of finding Caylee.
Sure, he was handing out cards and whatnot, but he IS in a sense considered a "celebrity", and any of us in his position would've done the same. That isn't showing disrespect to Caylee. [I suppose that when Angelina Jolie visits the poor and gives out photos she's being so horrible too, huh?] LOOK AT WHAT CINDY ANTHONY DID WHEN SHE WAS COLLECTING MONEY OFF OF CHER OWN, MISSING GRANDCHILD'S PHOTOS. THAT is what you call SICK.
Poor Caylee left without being able to tell everyone what really happened, and now her Grandmother--someone else who saw Casey's evil ways--is lying to everyone too and won't allow Caylee's memory to be at peace-Caylee is having to be thought of as some "missing child" who can't receive proper prayers because of Miss.I-don
t want-to-admit-to-people-that-my-daughter-murdered-my-grandchild-bc-i-care-so-much-about-saving-Casey [Cindy].
Just remember people-
Where Nancy & Leonard & the protesters may be loud and obnoxious at times-Their hearts are all in the right place-Whether or not they profit from their opinions or appearances-They STILL solely care about finding Caylee.
Cindy, however, has made money off of her OWN grandchild's photos-KNOWS she is dead yet won't admit it to the public-AND HAS INSULTED EVERYONE'S INTELLIGENCE BY CONSTANTLY SAYING "I mean, they don't even have any real evidence on Casey." UM-YES THEY DO CINDY! EVER HEARD OF "BEHAVIORAL EVIDENCE?" YEA-SHE HAS LOTS OF THAT!
So Cindy-Why don't YOU stop claiming that you're searching for Caylee when you're actually just working out at the gym and browsing the internet for Caylee sites so you can go off on innocent people?! Don't you have more important things to be worrying about? And Lee? I remember in September when you were signing onto your online video game account, playing video games. How...um...CONCERNED you all are.
SO whatever. Don't hate us for caring.
I just think it's funny how Cindy ***loved*** Padilla that first month after he bailed Casey out, and now she suddenly despises him because he won't be her doormat like George is.
;-)

I have to agree, on some level, with Mindy.
I think that everyone got a little bit heady with this case , all of the attention, or the reward financially that could be had, but I'm not willing to throw any one person under the bus, at this point. The on and off of the search, the attention that all of the players were seeking. The television performances, all around. It does make one feel a bit dirty.
Strangely, the offset of this is that I have more empathy as to why Cindy Anthony would go off the rails. I can feel for her and George, although I'm not like them. Having to contend with the loss of Caylee, the pathological antics and likely involvement of their daughter in that, and the three ring circus brightly bellowing around , is sadly absurd on many levels. I'm not saying that they haven't participated themselves. But I think it could put someone over the edge. I hope that they are receiving some good psychological counseling.
I hope that Caylee will eventually be brought home (because it all should have been about her). I hope that her mother Casey finds her conscience somehow and reveals the truth, although that is unlikely.
I feel that on some level, posters like myself may be contributing to the mania, as well. I will have to think long and hard about what kind of damage I have tossed into the collective pool of karma, before I write a comment again. This case was unprecedented as to the amount of evidence released, and so was compelling, but it can leave one analyzing the facts and becoming removed from the human element.
I sincerely hope that the nameless volunteers and unassuming participants feel good about their contribution; those who helped with a pure and sincere motive/heart. (Even though this has turned a bit ugly.)
I wish the best for all of those searching for their lost loved ones, and that any conclusion can be found that will give them peace. And that justice will be served to those who have caused the losses.

As many times as Casey Anthony has been seen without her daughter and she wasnt with the grandparents, i believe that Casey used the chloroform on her daughter several times. The last time, just a little to much and killed her, or left the body in the car just a little to long and she passed away. I believe that her daughter was in the car when it ran out of gas at the Orange County Amscot and she put her daughter in the dumpster there. She may have used someone else's car to travel to those other places, in hopes of putting the body there, but when she went back to get the body, found the dumpster empty. Has anyone bothered to check the dumpsters or the landfill? Did anyone check to see if the Orange county Amscot has survalence camera's? or any of the business near there had camera's? She could have gone back to her car at anytime and removed the body, put it in the dumpster and left. I dont believe she would have used anyone else's car to transport the body for fear that the smell or fluids would get into their car. she had to have dumped the body near Amscot. I believe right now she if confident that no one is going to find her daughter, because she is in the landfill and it would be almost impossible to find Caylee there. Casey has made up these wild stories to keep the police and searchers from looking in the landfill to give the body time to decompose.

Nancy Grace and Padilla are both disgraceful! That clown in the hat needs to go back to whatever rock he crawled out from and find another way to stroke his ego. I don't know how Nancy Grace can look at herself in a mirror anymore. I lost all respect for her when she left that other network and started her own show. I have watched her completely mis-state facts just for the hype. The sorry thing is she has a following of people who believe everything that comes out of her mouth.
Sorry for the harsh words but I have sat and watched that clown Padilla from the beginning and could not believe any media would give him the time of day. NG is a great "actress" playing her role the way the public and her producer wants her to. Hey people - it is a SHOW, not the news!
Tim Miller has done great things with his life in helping to find missing loved ones for their families. God bless him and I hope he gets the respect he so deserves. He has been doing this for YEARS and only came to the attention of the mass public when he was looking for Natlie Holloway. He has ONLY gone on national TV to help spread the word for volunteers to help him in large searches. It is obvious he is not comfortable doing these shows and does not engage in stupid speculation (like some others obviously do).
Godspeed Tim!
Thank you David for your factual updates (and a place to vent my feelings!).

Anyone who sees Tim Miller as having an ego problem is not paying attention and obviously has no concept of who he is or the work TES does. The work of TES is done as a service to families of the missing, to help provide closure for them. It is selfless, painful, emotional, expensive work, and nothing to do with publicity or a circus atmosphere.

Hi David,
I am extremely saddened and disgusted by the turn of events in the past several days. This case have been a circus with every performer you can imagine both online and in "real time". Everyone keeps saying "It's all about Caylee" to promote their own agendas. It sickens me because this is about Real people. Real lives. Real emotions.
That gag order is necessary for the protection of all parties. There needs to be some peace in this situation. It has gotten entirely OUT OF HAND.
Everyone everywhere is an expert. Yet, not one of us as ever had this exact set of circumstances occur in our own lives. This is a situation unlike any have ever seen.
This family needs our prayers. Not our judgement. Not one of us has ever been through this kind of a nightmare. They have lost their granddaughter, daughter, protesters stalking their home, slander, dirty laundry aired for all to see, had a WEB CAM on their house constantly, and the list goes on. Would any of us like to be watched every second of our lives when we are at the lowest point possible for a human being? Who of us can cast stones?
David, Thank you for what you have done to help TES. Thank you for setting the record straight time and time again. I will continue to follow your cases as you are an exellent journalist and you are a voice for those who have no voice.

I should have posted under this name in the first place. I now see there was a different mindy posting above, different from me!

Ok this is my take on this. I like Nancy Grace and watch her show when ever I can. I do not think that Nancy Grace is doing this show on Caylee Anthony for TV ratings! Of course her ratings are increasing while doing the story on Caylee because we all would like to know were this child's remains are. Tim Miller with the search team appears wishy washy and intoxicated 85% of the time!! I think he is afraid of Cindy Anthony and is not giving this search 100% of his attention due to being afraid of Cindy if he finds the child's body! Padilla is kind of different but appears interested in finding Caylees body. The only bond that brings him in is the fact that he bonded and revoked Caseys bond. To tie this up these three non relatives of Caylee Anthony have gone miles farther than Caylee's own relatives to find her!! So for this I say thank you to them all. To Cindy Anthony I say what is wrong with you?? Get counseling, get God, find your Granddaughter who believed and trusted in you!!

Let's face it, I'm sure the two days of searching was highly emotional and physically depleting to Tim and TE. JMO but going on Nancy Grace's show would be the last thing I would want to do after spending days looking for the body of a dead two year old.
He felt he did the most he could and he's ready to head out. If you donated and have a problem with the money you gave, then contact TE directly.
When it comes to the location of Caylee's body only Casey knows. I highly doubt she has given this info to Cindy and George since Casey is still giving the party line that the Evil Baddies have an alive Caylee. Considering that Casey is an accomplished and practiced liar who knows what validity any information/hints/tips she has given to family members or others would be worth, if anything.

No, I do not like Nancy Grace, a "real" attorney in the forum of a courtroom resided over by a Judge would eat her for lunch. She is the vampire of sensation and anybody who watches for any reason other than to get good and mad (at anyone) is going to be sorely disappointed. Leonard P. is a BOUNTY HUNTER, geeeeezzzzz. What did anyone expect. I am also going to voice my disappointment in this site. I feel totally abandoned. It seems as though the fearless leader has joined the ranks of "the others". I do criminal defense work (I know, booooooooo!) but I have always found good strong discussions with different people with different opinions can be a real eye opening experience. What has stood out in my mind may have been missed by yours and visa-versa. As long as the goal is the same (justice) a little heat between friends can even be enlightening. Are there any sites out there where there can be real discussions of the case at bar? I'd love to participate.
-Edited by David Lohr to add: No need to feel "abandoned". I am a neutral party, reporting on what I am being told.-

It's so frustrating that we ALL want Caylee found so bad and no one except Casey can tell us where she is...I was hoping that they would find something this past week so they could absolutely get her on murder charges WITH a body. So while I was thinking about how frustrating it is...I started wondering if any of her friends ever comment online about what they think of what's going on and what ideas they might have since they knew her well. (well at least one side of her.) This led me to start thinking about the fact that she has dated and associated with several cops/law enforcement and how that's sort of strange. So the point I'm trying to get at here is I wonder if any of these law enforcement guys ever made any casual comments about cases they had where someone hid a body very well or if they ever talked about "If I did it, this is how I would have done it successfully..." sort of thing. I wonder if investigators would have asked them that kind of thing in their interviews and if they would even remember saying it to her. She might have picked some idea up and remembered it. [I say this because I am always thinking: How do all of these murderers actually think they can get away with this stuff? With all of the science and testing nowadays it is so easy to prove who did it.] But if for some reason you were a sociopath like her and killed someone, what would you think to do with a body so that it would never be found...they usually always turn up eventually...but Caylee is still missing and I just wonder WHERE and HOW the heck Casey knew how to hide her so well....unless she got the idea from a trained cop who knew the tricks. See where thinking gets me?!?!?

So Tim is returning donations from Nancy's viewers? An adult temper tantrum is what I'd call it, that's just cutting off one's proverbial nose. These are caring people who want to help and they happen to watch a TV show of a woman whose given Padilla more airtime than he thinks he deserves.
That pretty much confirms my initial post, where I said Tim was reacting with less than noble emotion, and that some Texas ego came into play. (I'm married to a Texan, and I adore them. But they do have strong egos.) ;) If this is true, it indeed confirms my suspicion. Even great men, heroes, can be petty sometimes.

This is really personal for me. I know David is being neutral as appropriate, but after spending 4 days with him and TES, I cannot.
I have never come across more dedicated, hard-working and committed group of people in my life. All of which, we now consider our friends. It is unfathomable the amount of work it takes to launch a search of this size, in every way, unless you have actually been involved in one.
I have been a vocal supporter of Leonard in the past. I am taking it back. What I saw was a slap in the face to my Man-saint and Mrs. Man-Saint, the members of TES and most especially Caylee Anthony.
BTW, that is what this is about, the little girl rarely even mentioned the noise is so loud under the big top; CAYLEE.
Did anyone notice WHEN Padilla scheduled the "divers" for Blanchard Park and that it coincided with the announcement that some of TES was going to North Carolina?
Guess he was thinkin the lights were dimming.

I think Padilla has good intentions, however, if he thinks Caylee is at Blanchard Park, just get over there and look for her. Don't tell the world, so that others can go there and possibly tamper with things... Just go! Keep quiet in doing so! As for Nancy Grace, she is as phoney and self-centered as they come. I think SHE is the sociopath..She flips from angry to syrupy sweet in a twinkling of an eye. Goodnight Friend.

Really? Intoxicated? So what percentage of attention have you estimated Tim DOES spend on the search?
Sheesh At least he's not trotting out a dog and pony like LP did yesterday when he searched an area already cleared. In front of the media no less.
Sheesh

It is disgusting how Cindy and George have tried to convince the world that Caylee is still alive. Padilla does have compassion for Caylee and the prayer vigil or memorial service he had, was appropriate.
Caylee's body wasn't found and all evidence points to her being deceased, someone should have a memorial service for her!!!! I sincerely hope Cindy and George, oh Lee too, rot for disgracing their granddaughter!! I am a mother of two boys, and if either one of them murdered their own child, I would still love them, but I would not lie or obstruct justice for my grandchild.

Why doesn't Casey open up and say where she threw Caylee? If Casey WAS truthful, she would say what she has done to Caylee. This whole family is VERY DISFUNCTIONAL! Casey has learned from Cindy! None of this would be going on right now, had Casey not had lied!
Casey holds the key in all this and has cost everyone money. She doesn't care one bit about it! She is worried about herself and no one else. Her days are numbered!

You all should be ashamed at bashing Nancy Grace, Padilla, Tim or anyone involved in searching for caylee.
The only person to be blamed is CASEY. No one would have to look this excessive if she would just tell the truth and tell what happened and where caylees remains are.
You all need to climb off of your high horses and blame the only person that knows the truth.....CASEY.
-Edited by David Lohr to include: I did not bash Nancy Grace. That was a quote. In regards to Padilla, the truth is about to come out-

I say if LP wants to search - let him, no matter what his reasons are.
I think Tim Miller and TES do a lot of good, however, I was very disappointed that he left after 2 days. I spent those 2 days in thick brush and side stepping snakes and would have would have gladly spent as many weekends as it would take to find anything of worth.
I no longer feel sympathy for the Anthony's. They disrupt every search yet don't seem to be searching for anything except a buck. They only like you and what you do if there is something in it for them or if you do thier way.
Posted by: Morgan | November 12, 2008 at 09:56 AM
I agree with Morgan. If LP wants to try searching more thoroughly in different places he has leads on or certain feelings about, then go for it.
I also was disappointed to hear that they had already suspended the search. I understand there are other missing people to look for, but this specific case is just so unsettling to a TON of people around the country. I am constantly checking this site and in the news to see if they finally found something tangible.
I wonder if the Anthony's really know where Caylee is and they aren't saying anything because it will hurt Casey's case. Either that or they are just hanging onto whatever hope they can find that she is alive because they cannot accept that their daughter would have done something this awful and they're in denial until there really is a body in front of their faces...even then they will probably deny it was Casey that did it.
Posted by: LeeAnne | November 12, 2008 at 02:04 PM
Very sad thing is....Caylee could be found and all this searching and wondering could come to a conclusion if only the law were allowed to have Tot Mom Casey Anthony hypnotized to recall her steps in June.
Such a simple solution....probably not allowed by the current Laws of our Lands.
Who really has protection here? Casey or Caylee? Yes, it always go back to protecting Casey's rights at the expense of this little child. God Forbid...what has our country come to?????

Holy crap. Padilla was right!? This is weird. Padilla hired the guys that found the bones / bag / shamrock today. Unbelievable?

Officials Say Items Found in River Have "No Evidentiary Value" to Caylee Anthony Case:

What is wrong with anyone including Padilla searching for Caylee. I thought they wanted as many people searching as possible. Even if Tim Miller search the same area, isn't there a possibility of finding something? There are many people in this country who do not live in the area who do look at possible look-a-likes on their shopping trips, etc. I do, even though I feel the child is no longer with us. Keep the focus on Caylee and not feeding egos. Tim Miller has done a great deal of good. Padilla has also, and has continued his search. I haven't read that anyone is paying Padilla expenses. I don't care who finds the little one, as long as she is found. I prayed that she is found alive, but if not, she NEEDS TO BE FOUND. The find at the river surprises me that the authorities are dismissing everything. Get rid of the egos and just find Caylee.

Leonard Pedilla as well as Nancy Grace are 2 of the most sensationalistic opportunist individuals ever to have "graced" the media. Grace herself, has been twice cited for prosecutorial misconduct (she has lied to jurors, in plain English) and embellished the story of her exboyfriend's murder. She's about as much a victim's rights advocate as my cat! How anyone can watch her and take her seriously is beyond me. She's cares only about how many viewers tune into her show.
Posted by: Sara | November 14, 2008 at 11:01 AM
first of all i believe leonard cares for caylee so does tim they may not be perfect but they care the anthony's are in deep denial. Casey is an evil waste of flesh who should be locked naked in a windowless dirty mice infested dark room even after she tells where caylee if she would which i doubt but that is what she deserves. I do think lp an tim wanna help they could do a better job and they are not perfect but they have good intentions and frankly if leonard finds her who cares why he did it. As for Nancy she too cares she is a new mother. She may be loud and obnoxious sometimes but she wants to find caylee and wants justice she is not a journalist she is an ex prosecutor she is the only show still covering this case those of us who watch her care and to say that we watch to be entertained is an insult that I personally resent I care for that baby and want justice for her the anthony's are innocent till proven guilty. casey has made herself look plenty guilty. plus dna does not lie.
