The Search for Missing Mother of Three Corrie Anderson
November 02, 2008
I was on the scene in Jamestown, N.Y. today looking into the case of 36-year-old Corrie L. Anderson, a southern-tier mother of three who went missing early last week.
According to police, Corrie was last seen on the afternoon of October 28, leaving the Lake County Dodge dealership on Washington Street in Jamestown. Family members reported Corrie missing later that day when she failed to pick up her 6-year-old son from school. Investigators with the New York State Police opened a file on the case and issued an APB (all points bulletin) for Corrie's blue 2005 Dodge Caravan, New York license number CX404.
"We're appealing to people who have large parking lots... hotels or motels that this vehicle could be left abandoned where it wouldn't soon be noticed, so if people can, please check lots to see if any vehicles were left abandoned," State Police Major Christopher Cummings told WIVB.com.
On October 30, a hunter discovered Corey's car abandoned at a gas well off of Kortwright Road in the town of Busti.
"I was working outside, when an old fellow I know came walking out of the woods and said that he had found the woman's car on my property," the landowner, who does not wish to be identified, told Investigation Discovery. "He said he did not want any part of it, so I took my farmhand up there to have a look. The van was just past the gas well, out of site from the road. I walked up to it and looked inside, but I did not see anyone or any sign of trouble. We compared the license plate numbers to the one listed in the paper, and sure enough, it was her car. I phoned the police and within an hour they had the whole area cordoned off."
State police recovered the vehicle from the field, and sent it to Batavia for forensic testing.
That night, investigators searched the Celoron, N.Y. home of Corrie's second husband, Kenneth Anderson. It should be noted that several outlets are reporting that the Andersons are divorced; however, neighbors with whom I spoke said that their divorce had not yet been finalized.
Investigators reportedly questioned Anderson for several hours; however, what – if anything – they learned is unknown. Police have not called Anderson a suspect or person of interest in his wife's disappearance.
Getting back to the location where the car was found, the property owner said that it is not unusual for people to go onto his property to hunt or target shoot. He said he did not see any unusual activity in the area in the days leading up to the discovery of the car; however he did point out that the location is only a half-mile walk through the woods to Corrie's house, which is situated just across the road from the Wellman State Forest – a 447-acre state park. Driving distance from the location the car was found to her home is roughly two miles.
Corrie and Kenneth Anderson had lived together in the house prior to their breakup, which occurred about two years ago. Corrie reportedly had one child with Kenneth and two children with her first husband.
The property owner said he knew Kenneth personally and that, in previous years, he had allowed him to hunt on his property.
In a recent statement to the media, Lt. Jim Quattrone of the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department warned the public that there are a lot of "rumors" and "disinformation" out there. As a result, I took the information I was given to the authorities for verification; however, they had "no comment." Hence, the validity of the land owner's statements remains unclear.
During the past week, multiple agencies have been involved in the search for Corrie. Authorities say that have used ATV's, helicopters and cadaver sniffing dogs to help them clear areas of interest. At this time there are no plans to organize a community search party.
When asked by a reporter from WIVB.com if there appears to be foul play, Chautauqua County District Attorney David Foley replied, "Well, we can't rule it out, so I think, from my perspective, we treat it as though there has been foul play."
On Saturday, friends and family members held a prayer vigil for Corrie at the Lakewood Baptist Church.
''I don't know a lot of the people here tonight, but I know you're here because you care,'' said Pastor Dan Cook of Lakewood Baptist Church. ''We are all here to reach out, to pray for strength from God. Let us pray that the angels of God will surround Corrie at this time and lift her up and protect her. We should also pray for law enforcement, for their personal safety and wisdom to make the right decisions.''
Corrie has been employed as a part-time technical assistant at Jamestown Community College's Hultquist Library. According to Nelson J. Garifi, Jr., a spokesperson for the college, Corrie started working there in 2005.
''We are giving our full cooperation to those investigating Corrie's disappearance. We are keeping her family and friends, as well as her colleagues in the library, in our thoughts as we pray that Corrie will return home safely soon," Garifi said in an interview with Post-Journal.com.
Corrie Anderson is 5-foot-11, 170 pounds, with green eyes and blond hair. She was last seen wearing black corduroy pants, a black leather jacket, and small wire-rimmed glasses.
Anyone with information regarding Corrie Anderson's disappearance is asked to call the State Police at (716) 665-3113.

I wonder if they found out if she was having car problems and was trying to set up an appointment for repair when she went to the car dealership. Then I guess it could be a possible stranger abduction where ever her car broke down. Of course, a divorcing couple, the estranged husband, and a search of his home seem to suggest otherwise. This scenario is becoming all too common that it feels like a crisis in this country. Maybe divorcing couples need to go to mandatory anger management therapy. I don't know. You would think that we could have evolved a little further than this. These husbands act no better than the Taliban, disposing of their wives as if property no longer needed.

Somehow I missed the furniture rearranging element in my first post. If true, that is so creepy, it smacks of a stalker. And yes, who is the likeliest stalker; the ex., sigh.

If there is any video of the soon-to-be ex, please, please let me know. I'd love to see it.

The rearranging of the furniture is really odd. How did the farm owner know that information? Could he be involved? Did they report the furniture moving incident. So strange...
-Edited by David Lohr to add: The elderly farm owner is not involved. He knows that family and the neighbors. I do not know if it was reported. That was why I brought it up to LE but they had no comment about it-

Follow up to the person who wondered why she was at the dealership: I heard...not confirmed...but heard that she had started dating a guy who worked at the dealership & had gone there on break to visit him.
-edited by david lohr to include: i was told the same thing-

>>He said that in the weeks leading up to Corrie's disappearance, someone had broken into her house and rearranged her furniture. He said he was told that nothing was stolen, but that the incident had frightened her. He also recalled a recent incident in which someone had allegedly threatened her with a gun.
Frightening for sure. Let's hope that despite LE's "no comment" that they have some ideas.
Just heartbreaking; whether she let on her own or was abducted. God bless her family and especially her children.

everyone is looking at the soon to be ex very possibly could be but she looks a lot like yolanda bindicks. any connection there? a stalker perhaps?
Posted by: sherry | November 03, 2008 at 02:14 PM
There is no connection to Yolanda Bindics remember her body was dumped by the cop along way from her abduction. This person took her vehicle back close to her house. He had to have known where she lived. I would say this is more of a stalker case. I would look at the ex, pretty sad that a father would do this to their kid(s). Very self centered actions. So sad I just hope she is alive somewhere.

Who is this "old fellow" that first discovered this car?? It's one thing not wanting to be named in article but when you think you found the car of a missing woman you just throw up your hands and say "you deal with it"?

Thanks for keeping this important issue out in the open for us to see and remember.
Before finding your site I didn't realize how many people go missing in just a week.
I did some online research and found in California alone for 2007 there was an average of 129 missing persons reports a week! (Not including runaways)
What your doing is very, very important and you are appreciated. I certainly hope that Corrie Anderson, Kelly Morris, and a multitude of others will be found alive and well.

Corrie is a great person. The car was found by someone who walks the woods frequently. It is an extremely rural area. No one had threatened her with a gun. She was at the dealership to visit a friend. We continue to search for her. Her disappearance is very sad.

Corrie is my 2nd cousin, her eldest daughter and i are very close. I haven't a clue what happened, but it is extremely frightening. Being part of the family, I have been getting updates about 2 times a day, but since the car was found... there hasn't been much. Most everyone is looking at Ken for this, and I agree. The man is simply not right. I hope everyone will keep Corrie in their prayers.

Any truth to the rumor that she had a protection order against the estranged husband? I have a relative in law enforcement in Chautauqua County who stated that the ex had installed a GPS tracking device on her vehicle, and that she had sought a restraining order against him.
Posted by: Former WNY resident | November 06, 2008 at 07:01 PM
Restraining order is true... and I believe his ex-wife has one on him too.
Posted by: 3r1n | November 07, 2008 at 04:37 PM
I know this lawyer who told me that the "almost ex" had his pistol permit revoked a while back due to his history of domestic abuse and current stalking, of Corrie. So sad. He said he didn't know how Ken didn't do some jail time for all the domestic abuse charges against him. Maybe if he would have done time Corrie would be safe and I hope she is.

Restraining order and GPS: True. He did lots of other things as well. Even if he's not involved in Corrie's disappearance he still deserves to rot in hell for all of the pain we know he put her through.

"There is no connection to Yolanda Bindics remember her body was dumped by the cop along way from her abduction." --The person who posted this seems to be making huge assumptions. To my knowledge, no "cop" or anyone else has ever been charged with that crime. And the location of Yolanda's remains is not all that far from Busti. Also, it is my understanding that the Andersons also own land in the Ellery area, near the area where Yolanda's remains were found. I wonder if the ex has been eliminated as a possible suspect in the Bindics case?

We need to examine the timeline very carefully and look at where Mr Anderson was at exactly those times from 1300-1530 sounds like a good place to start, the woods are also a factor the 1/2 mile walk to the house, the van being dumped there does not garanteee body to be in same close region.
lets explore these as an online team

If true about gps, wonder how far ex would go?
Posted by: ed | December 09, 2008 at 01:04 AM
I'm praying for her family that they find her...how awful for the children to not know where their mother may be. I also think because we live in a "small town" environment...people just jump to assumptions that the Yolanda Bindics case and this one are linked. I don't agree...just because two people come up mmissing..and they are both blonde, single mothers who happen to live within so many miles of each other...doesnt mean they were abducted/killed by the same person. I do hope they nail the creeps on both cases...and I pray for Corrie's safe return.

Edwin...if you are still following and wish to research this as an online team I would love to contribute.
