Caylee Anthony Search Update; Day 2
November 09, 2008
The search for Casey Anthony's missing two-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony, continues today in Orlando, Florida.
The number of volunteers who showed up today was significantly less than the turn out we had yesterday. As of 10:30 a.m., only about 300 people have showed up. In addition, the 500 bounty hunters that were supposed to volunteer have yet to make an appearance.
Leonard Padilla, the bounty hunter from California who helped bail Anthony out, brought a group of about five people with him. Yesterday, Padilla spent the majority of the day at the command center. Today, he was present for the search briefing and then left with his entourage to assist in the search effort.
At the briefing this morning, Richard Grund, the father of Anthony's former fiancée, Jessie Grund, addressed the crowd of volunteers and offered his prayers and support. Watch the video here.
The volunteers who did show up today are being dispatched to the remaining areas of interest. Several ATV teams have been sent out and an airboat, equipped with side-scan sonar, is also out searching area waterways.
The Tri County chapter of BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) is expected to show up sometime this afternoon to assist with crowd control and security.
Volunteers are asked to come to the command center, located at the corner of Judge and Shadowridge, SE Corner, Orlando, FL. Click here for map.
In related news, I would like to personally thank everyone who has helped out during the search effort. Yesterday, I posted an urgent update, requesting supplies at the command center. EquuSearch was in desperate need of food and water for the volunteers. Many readers of this blog offered their help, including a group called "Caylee's Angels", who sent bottled water and Gatorade by Taxi from California yesterday. Tim Miller's Executive Assistant, Barbie Tarr, was amazed the response of my readers. "They truly are Caylee's Angels," she said.
Keep checking back for all the latest developments!

I pray everyday that little Caylee Anthony will be found. How wonderful that people from all over the USA have come together to help bring this little angel home.
God Bless You All.

I just wanted to encourage people that are able to PLEASE go and search for Caylee. Please don't assume that someone else will do it. Get involved and don't hesitate to do it! Caylee needs every single able and willing body available to look for her so she can be found and laid to rest properly. If I could have afforded to fly down to Orlando and stay (I'm in NC), I would be searching at every available opportunity. Instead of being an active participant, all I can do is send money for supplies and I hate it. I know they need the money but I would rather be physically helping to search for her. And it REALLY burns my biscuits to think that the Anthony family (with the exception of George, bless his heart) is probably sitting back smugly and smiling to themselves because turnout has been so much lower than expected. It would be a major blow to their theory and Casey's very over-inflated ego if thousands of people turned out to help. It would maybe help prove to Cindy, though she would never admit it, that MOST people DO believe that Caylee was killed and disposed of by her mother; the pitiful excuse for a mother that Cindy says deserves "Mother of the Year." So, please if you are able, go help search for this sweet, innocent little girl. We owe it to her to give her some justice and that will be so much easier if we can find her.

If she's "sold or kidnapped" how do you explain the human decomposition and the decomp hair sample in the trunk of *her mother's* car??
The problem is that nobody but Casey knows what she did with her daughter's dead body. She had a month to hide it before anyone even knew she was missing.
The grand jury was absolutely correct in indicting Casey Anthony of first degree murder, body or no body.
Thank you David for all the effort you put into the search and the updates for those of us who live too far away to be out there searching in the physical sense.

she was probably knocked out with the chloroform then put in alligator infested waters, since animals prefer to eat something alive. Then there might not be anything left to find. I feel so sorry for the entire Anthony family except Casey, who should never see light of day again!

Two thoughts come to mind. What about Casey knowing someone with an incinerator, someway to turn the body to ashes and dispose of it? Another is, what if she met someone and transferred the body to be disposed of elsewhere?

Did anyone think that maybe she burned her body because she obtained gas cans and maybe carried her ashes in the bag, dug a hole, dumped the ashes in the hole, came back with the empy bag and shovel that was seen being put in the trunk of the car by witnesses and therefore no body will be found? Something that crossed my mind.

Try not to suffer disappointment (easier said than done, I know). Many people do not hold a promise to it's importance in this day. I may sound ancient, but I don't care. When your word is no good, what are you then? Nothing but bluster... nothing.
Regardless, some are responsible for their word and promises; and show up and do. Those are the ones with the hearts. They see the job through until done, whatever it is.
I'd rather have a thousand of them than five thousand blowhards. I'm not Buddhist, but a good friend was: good karma will follow you, or bad, it's what you do. Or, as in the colloquial americana, (all races, all churches, temples, mosques, mystics and the ethical secular, et al), " what comes around, goes around". Serve, and be rewarded. The result is not necessarily the reward; the reward is the act of giving itself .

David
If the body was buried at the Anthony's home at some point then where would that shovel be? Every one assumes that when she borrowed the neighbors shovel that is when she moved the body from the home and buried it elsewhere. I thought she only had the shovel from the neighbor for 45 mins. That hardly leaves time to drive away and dig a hole dump the body and return to the home in order to return the shovel.
I still think that body is on the Anthony property. If she sealed the body in a container and wrapped the container also how much odor would actually escape?? Then if you buried it in a flower bed or other place on the property cover with the dirt, fertilizer and mulch and God knows what else could the dogs have missed it with all the fresher exposed scents in the yard and in the playhouse?
I am no expert on hiding a body but I don't beleive she is smart enought to go out and bury it someplace. I still remember what she said about her feeling the body was close to home.
I wish some how someone would hint that they are thinking about going back to the yard at the Anthonys.....or GO back and dig. I know dogs are good but it could have been overlooked. Cell phone pings.....that girl could have been over there doing a drug deal or anything.
Just a thought.

David, thank you so much for the update. "Caylee Angel Liza" was responsible for sending the water and Gatoraide by taxi after gathering money from the members of one thread on Topix I belong to. She and Larry C, the terminal cancer man mentioned in the news, are the most incredible people I know. Many, many people talk, but these two ACT. I know there are many, many more who also act, but these are two I know personally. Bless ALL the people who care about this child.
If Caylee is never found, God Forbid, it wasn't for lack of trying.

A live Caylee would not leave dead remains in the back of her car or a hair that shows a dead body was in there. She's not smart enough to sell her and if she did where is the money? She was still stealing money the entire time prior to reporting her missing. As far as a live Caylee, I doubt that. Not with a $250,000.00 dollar reward out for her someone would have talked. There is no babysitter, that was all a lie anyway, that's been proven already. If she dug a hole and put her in it the grass and all would have settled in by now making it almost invisible the area which she put her it's been 5 months already. Just think if you dug a whole in your yard in June would you see where you dug by November? No, you wouldn't it would have grown up and grass or what ever weeds would have grown up making it match the surrounding area. The baby is in the woods, they just can't find her yet. Go bury a bone in your yard in June then go back in Nov and try to dig for it, KNOWING where it is and see how long it takes you to find it, now these people are working on they don't know where she is in the ground so it's got to be very hard for them. Lord knows I wish I lived in Florida, I'd be out there right now looking for her rather than looking up on the web hoping to see a news report that says CALYEE HAS BEEN FOUND. I live in NC and wish I was closer.

The person I am most disgusted with right now is Leonard Padilla. He is so obviously involved in this case for his own purposes. "Oh, I'm going to bring down 500 bounty hunters to search for Caylee," and then he shows up with 5??? And then there was all that nonsense in the beginning where he pretended to believe Caylee was alive and then he turned into a cynic the next day, absolutely convinced her mother had killed her???? Whatever happened with the supposed myspace threats made by Casey against Padilla? I'm guessing that was a big lie too, or the DA would surely have revoked Casey's bond and sent her straight to jail.
I also can't stand that little pipsqueak Mark Nijame. Did anyone see him fighting on tv with nancy grace the other night? He made his clients look worse than they make themselves look. He made some comment about Nancy making more money off Caylee's disappearance than the Anthony's did. Well, you know, at least Nancy Grace isn't trying to cover for a demented murderer.
I can only imagine how thrilled Casey and her lawyer are that the search is being called off. I hope equusearch consulted with the DA before making this announcement, since it truly hampers their case now.
Did anyone think that Casey could have had someone move the body after the search began, if there really was someone helping her??

Wake up people,.... it is pretty clear... they will not find her... WHY!!!
Her mother killed her and then fed her to the alligators so no one would ever find her body.

If they werent scared of equuseacrh finding the body, why did baez enter that whatever it was saying that if something did happen to Caylee, it was an accident. No one seems to remember that happening. Funny how it happened DAYS BEFORE EQUUSEARCH ARRIVED. Casey panicked, what if they find her. Baez has to do something. That body was out there. Very likely that Faye or alligators got her. How about the clothes comment she made? they didnt even find the clothes she was wearing? Most incriminating though is that statement baez released. They didnt even try to keep it a secret, and since they didnt try to keep it hush hush, no one seems to think its a big deal. theyre tactic worked. TOO MUCH OF A COINCIDENDE THERE.
