Casey Anthony Grand Jury Afternoon Update
October 14, 2008
Grand jury testimony in the case of Casey Anthony and her missing 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony, is well under way.
Witnesses began to show up at the court house at 9:00 a.m. today. Casey Anthony's father, George Anthony, was the first to testify in the case. He took the stand at 9:25 a.m. and remained on the stand until 10:40.
Following George's testimony, Orange County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Forgey was called to the stand. Forgey is the cadaver dog handler who gave testimony during Anthony's bond hearing. Forgey's testimony before the grand jury lasted approximately 30 minutes.
At 12:05 p.m. FBI Agent Nick Savage was called to the stand to testify. Shortly thereafter, the hearing was adjourned for lunch.
Testimony is set to resume at 1:00 p.m.

This dress that was found is said to be a size six. Unless the child who would have just turned three, was extreamly tall, would not be wearing a size six dress or any other type of clothing that size. Most children stay clost to the size of their years. For example, my children wore either 24 month or 2T when they were two. My daughter wore a size six in second grade. My grandaughter who is of average size and height and is 2years old (July) wears an 18 mo,some 24 month and 2T's. Never would she fit into a size three let alone a five which would be the equivilent to what was found. I will be truly shocked if this is Caylee's dress.

I too do not believe a 2/3 year old would fit a size 6 dress. The picture that Caylee is seen in a similar dress was when she looked to be about 1 to 1/2 years.
Anything is possible though...perhaps Caylee is taller than the average 2/3 year old... Part of me does not want it to be Caylee's but another part does...so that she can be put to rest in a proper manner and that George and Cindy can begin their healing process which is going to be long and very difficult.

David, are you there? Are you getting pictures?

I would agree except that my daughter turned 3 about 3 months prior to Caylee's birthday and from the beginning of the case I have commented on the resemblance both in build and looks that Caylee and my daughter have. My daughter is by no means overweight, built solid and I typically have her in 4-5T pants but in a 4-5 sometimes 6 in girl's tops. As far as the size 6 dress, that may be pushing it a bit. Let's all pray that Caylee is put to rest soon and back where she belongs be it with God or with those who will love and take care of her.

I was struck this morning by the irony of the term "secret grand jury". Sure, they are in session, so odds are they will be meeting today. However, isn't it the target that is usually kept secret? Is this typical of Orange County grand jury proceedings; to be announced?
Interesting that one of the latest "Cindyisms" (love that term from Mr. Padilla), is that the prosecutor and sheriff are politically motivated to take this to the grand jury at this time. But again, not knowing how Orange County operates, it's difficult to judge. My previous assumption was that if this jury didn't indict Casey, The State could return with hopefully more/new evidence when a new grand jury is impaneled. Seems pragmatic.

After seeing the footage of George Anthony in front of the courthouse this A.M., I just feel terribly sad for this family. He looked awfully strained.
Regardless of how I feel about Casey and her(potential) involvement in the disappearance of Caylee, and whatever pathology exists in the family, or not, this is a horrible situation for anyone to have to endure. If the evidence in a trial finally definitively demonstrates that Caylee is no longer alive, I believe that Cindy's world will really come crashing down around her; if she can graduate from her denial phase. When all is quiet and she is no longer in the fight for her daughter's life (if that happens), she will be alone with the thoughts of her loss and it's going to be devastating. I can see people being frustrated with all of the denials, but when you come down to it, there will be a day when these people will be experiencing terrible grief. For that, I can feel sympathy.
On another subject, "Cindy Anthony accused state attorney Lawson Lamar of seeking an indictment for political gain." , I don't know Mr. Lamar at all, but Cindy Anthony could have a point. Very often political gain is sought in advancing court cases and seeking convictions. However, Casey Anthony's guilt in the matter and Mr. Lamar's ambitions are not mutually exclusive ideas; he may be doing so for political gain, and she may be guilty. It doesn't have to be one way or another.
Attorney Baez must defend his client in any manner that he can, and will use distractions and peripheral drama to move the attention away from his client. He has to do that. It's what a defense attorney does. Cindy in this situation, I believe, is not only protecting her daughter but is also preoccupying herself in a fight that removes her attention away from what she would otherwise have to face deep in her heart. It might appear that George has entered into that phase before her.

My Daughter has this exact same dress. It fits a bit small like a 4/5 but still it would be a bit large for Caylee.

Generally a 3 yr. old would not wear a sz. 6, however someone wanting to throw the law off-track for a while would toss anything out! We all know almost 100 percent the child is dead, hopefully Casey did not have enough smarts about herself to throw the baby to the alligators & get rid of all the evidence. L. Padlla said this baby would be found & I believe him!

I am hopeful that Caylee's body will be found in this area, since this is the area Casey was 'pinged' in by cell phone towers, it is remote, and it fits what we know about the case and where the body might be stashed...HOWEVER...I usually don't like to speculate too wildly but I sure hope that some 3rd party didn't find a dress that looked like a dress seen in a picture of Caylee and go hide it in the bushes there to obfuscate the case even more. Tim said the dress was in "good" condition, and that is the part that is hard to figure under the circumstances. I don't see why they would find the dress *only* unless it were torn from the body, in which case i would expect it to be in poor condition. Unless it were to facilitate a quicker decomposition I don't see why Casey/someone would remove the dress and hide it in an (apparently) easier spot. The weirdness continues... best to wait and see without much to go on here. What seems like a huge break might be a dead end, in and of itself.

The size six dress is CASEYS!! That is why they mentioned finding a little girl's backpack and a size six dress because Caylee's mom wears a size six.
Posted by: S | October 14, 2008 at 02:02 PM
S, I do not think they are confusing a grown woman's dress with a child's... that's why there is so much discussion about the size being age-appropriate.
Posted by: Ardra | October 14, 2008 at 02:57 PM
Ardra....THere is a HUGE difference in a childs size 6 and an adult size 6. You're wrong about that being Caseys dress. I don't think it's Caylee's either. I think it was placed there by "someone" recently. The dress is too big and wouldn't be in "good" condition given the amount of time Caylee has been missing. BTW, I think Univeral Studios should donate 1 days' proceeds to Equusearch. It certainly wouldn't bankrupt them and they would be donating a huge gift to this deserving organization. Caylee and others deserve no less.

That was "S's" comment not mine.
This thing about the poster's name under the post instead of above has really confused nearly everybody who visits here.
I wonder if it can be fixed?

I am glued to the TV EVERY night to watch Nancy Grace and the unfolding drama that is the Casey/Caylee Anthony Case. I also frequent this sight to get latest info and read the comments.
L. Padilla seems to KNOW what is happening quite clearly yet is only given limited time to speak on Nancy Grace each evening. I would love to hear ALL that he has to say...uninterrupted by Miss Nancy. Is there a posibillity that he could post his findings/ideas here on this website for all of us to read?
As for the dress...Tim Miller seemed so disdraught discussing the dress on Nancy Grace last night that I feel it is not Caseys size six but a childs. I have a 2 year old and she wears a 24 month or 2T. A size 6 sounds WAY too large for a 2/3 year old little girl.
As for Lee Anthony...are they tracking his whereabouts at all times??? I think Lee would move evidence or disrupt the search ANYWAY he could.
This is a very sick and dysfunctional family...Yet they are a Family just like the rest of us and my heart goes out to them.
LETS ALL PUSH FOR LEONARD PADILLA TO BE ABLE TO POST HIS FINDINGS HERE!

My daughter is 2 and she is in the 110th percentile for her age with height and she is only in 5T pants. I sincerely doubt that this is Caylee's dress.

CB, you have a good and kind heart. Your empathy is very moving. It's so easy to get caught up in the bloodthirst--this family is so very vile---but you put that aside and spoke with a warm heart. It was refreshing, thank you.

The evidence stacks up like this: 1)Every clothing manufacturer makes clothing according to varying measurements; 2)especially if this was 100% Cotton (as it would shrink easily when dried; 3), & if it were made in a country outside of the US--China & other countries tend to manufacture clothing items much smaller than comparable US sized clothing. No-one wants it to be Caylee's dress, but, let's be REALISTIC: a)the dress fits the description EXACTLY of a dress once worn by Caylee (with pictures of Caylee wearing the dress to prove as much); b)Caylee was closer to age 3 when she disappeared, only a few weeks prior to her 3rd birthday, it is not unusual for children today to be somewhat larger than the a "typically" measured child, just the way our health trends are heading. Put ALL the preeding evidence together and easily a STRONG possibility exists that indeed Caylee Anthony's dress was found. But, what does this mean? If the dress was completely intact then perhaps mom, Casey merely threw-it out along with the backpack found earlier in the investigation. SADLY this beautiful little girl is most certainly deceased and already with her maker; God bless her little soul.

Has anyone even thought about the possibility that the dress
was airborne during one of the many hurricaines that have
hit Florida and that it probably does not even belong to Caylee. I am sure the child is deceased though due to the fact of the cadaver dog hitting in Casey's back yard and in her trunk, the borrowing of the neighbor's shovel and then she did not want her Father near the car trunk to get the gas cans out. Everything leads to her death even if there is no body. I pray for the family...has to be really hard losing a Grandchild and now possibly the daughter going to
prison for Murder.

Re: dress found. If you've looked closely at her pictures, especially those when she's with other people, you'll notice she was a very large child. Much bigger than your average 2 year old. It's also possible that despite the size, she may have wanted to wear it anyway. My mom used to buy my daughter dresses that were always too big for her, because they were cute and she'd eventually grown into them. On occasion, she would wear them with some slight adjustments just because she wanted to. It's not entirely impossible that this is her dress. However, what about the pants that were allegedly washed by Cindy Anthony?

In two days Caylee will have been gone for six months. Just about everyone who owns a television knows about Casey Anthony and Baby Caylee. What we hope and pray is that she is alive and was not burned, assaulted, given away or eaten by gators.
Casey's personality didn't just become a spoiled brat who also is a pathological liar; she learned how to lie from a good teacher, her mother. We have seen Cindy change her stories so quick and easily, when she needs to be in charge, which is as usual.
Personally I think her father George, former policeman, advised Casey to keep her mouth shut, "don't tell them anything honey, without a body or evidence of foul play you can beat this". Isn’t this an example of “What happens here in the Anthony home, stays here in the Anthony home” mentality”?
My assumption on George giving advice to Casey comes mostly from he protested too much. He provokes the media, neighbors, etc. outside his home when anyone with any self respect would stay inside and ignore what is going on outside. It appears the Anthony’s like the TV cameras and all the attention they are getting. They appear to like to add fuel to the situation. Spraying people with a water hose to keep them off your property is by anyone’s opinion, childish behavior .
We all have had instances where it is better to not say anything than to try to lie to cover up, but if she was my child, I would have done exactly what momma Cindy did in the beginning...however, I wouldn't have changed my story to help Casey out like Cindy did after realizing what really happened even if she is in denial that this child MUST be dead. With all the evidence found by the dogs, smells and proof that a deceased body had been in the car! She is a nurse.....and by her own admission on the 911 call she says, "the car smells like someone has died in it", then later trys to say it was rotten pizza.
Give everyone a break Cindy....you can't change reality and your own words. My heart goes out to the whole family even if I seem to be hard in my feelings, but "Caylee" is all that really matters and not some carnival act being portrayed in front of your home. Not by the spectators, but by The Anthony's. How about shutting up and letting the professionals do their job and start doing what you can do by being the first to tell the TRUTH.
