Bondsman Arrives In Florida To Bail Out Casey Anthony
August 18, 2008
Leonard Padilla, a bail bondsman from Sacramento, California, has arrived in Orlando after making arraignments to pay Casey Anthony's $500,000 bail.
According to Padilla, he has been following the case closely and is convinced that Anthony's missing 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony, will not be found as long as Casey Anthony is behind bars.
Padilla is planning to meet with Anthony's attorney today to determine what he needs to do to secure her release from the county jail.
According to CBS13.com, Padilla and two associates will stay with Anthony upon her release.
Meanwhile, Anthony refused another visit with her parents that had been scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. today. On Sunday, she also canceled a visit with her brother, Lee Anthony.

I can't believe they are going to let her go, but I guess that is the law. I have a feeling she will walk, even if they never find Caylee and she was responsible for her death. So sad.

David,
This story amazes me. I don't know how a mother can be so mellow in a situation like this. I'm not sure bailing her out is the right thing to do.

I think they need to get the Bigfoot guys to find her!!! They can find anything!!
Posted by: kim | August 18, 2008 at 12:03 PM
I don't think she will last long with out cover. I know there are a lot of people that would love to sherd her to peices me being one. This case is to big for her just to go back to a normal life. There are people that want to hurt her.
Posted by: Teresa | August 18, 2008 at 12:48 PM
I absolutely agree, Kandra. I don't even have any children and could not fathom acting so calm if I knew I had a child missing. MISSING! That is just so strange, missing means gone, not with you or anyone you know. Her behavior this whole time seems to really incriminate her in some way, along with the shovel, the car smell, it just seems so obvious.
Posted by: Angie | August 18, 2008 at 12:55 PM
It is so obvious this mother does not love her child... regardless of if Caylee is dead or alive... she shows no remorse. I say keep her locked up... This lil girl is so beautiful... Caylee deserves justice.... all her mom will do is party im sure!

If THE PARENTS BELIEVE CASEY IS INNOCENT WHY DIDNT THEY PUT UP A PROPERTY BOND FOR CASEY,S RELEASE? I ALSO BELIEVE THE GRANDMOTHER KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED,MAYBE EVEN HELPED.WAY TOO MANY LIES FROM BOTH CASEY AND THE GRANDMOTHER.
Posted by: Bill | August 18, 2008 at 01:23 PM
They are going to pull cell phone records for the last YEAR! They will find every single call and text message and obtain ownership of each and every number found. Her lies of this Zeneida's multiple phone numbers is going to be found out if it hasn't already. Casey may be sociopathic and a habitual liar but she's only 22 years of age. I'd hardly consider this "girl" very clever. Her instincts and impulses are to lie...just lie. She's thought nothing through. It will come to light; all of it.
Posted by: Mari | August 18, 2008 at 01:37 PM
They obviously can't keep her locked up. Bail has been set and will be met. If her release leads to the discovery of Caylee, either dead or alive, it will have been worth it. If they discover a body and it's determined that there's sufficient evidence of her mother's involvement, the DA will be able to file new charges and rearrest her, this time denying bail altogether.

My heart almost aches out of my chest for this little girl. I have a 2 year old Great Neice who means as much to me as my 14 year old son does and I would give my life for my son. I cannot imagine how Casey can go on day by day convincing herself that she hasn't done ANYTHING wrong and she has zero remorse or desire to fine her missing child. She better hope she stays in jail...know what I mean?!?!
Posted by: tarah | August 18, 2008 at 02:10 PM
Did anyone ever check the possibility of her working at an escort service in the area and having left her daughter in the closed car came back and found her daughter dead.No way am I making excuses for her as she seems to be a spoiled and rotten individual with no regard for the feelings of her family. She might have even been jealous of the attention her daughter was given,The lies I see are: such as the father of her child, where she was living, the babysitter, the phone calls she rcvd saying she spoke to her daughter, the gas cans in her car, the cause of the smell being pizza and on and on it was lie after lie.....
Posted by: Gigi | August 18, 2008 at 02:21 PM
I wonder where she'll go. If she's staying with Cindy and George upon release, the media will remain camped out in the yard. Wonder how long it'll take them all to crack THEN...
Didn't someone say that she still could be charged with murder with or without a body ever being found? Whatever happened to the DNA results of the trunk? It's all just so odd that this woman will be allowed out of jail without further (more serious) charges...
Posted by: justagirl | August 18, 2008 at 02:29 PM
She could have moved Caylee multible times in a month.
Posted by: Rita | August 18, 2008 at 03:58 PM
I hope Cayce stays in jail where she belongs that bondsman will not get any more information out of Cayce. it will just buy more time for her and whoever else is working with her to get another story together. and i do not think she will return to the scene of the crime anytime soon she is too shrewd to do this. (they) had the loose ends tied up long before Caylee was reported missing. funny how so many HELPFUL people appear when there is a big reward. A whole lot of people are praying for Caylee to come home safely, i hope and pray that this is the case
Posted by: julie | August 18, 2008 at 05:04 PM
I have a hard time believing this child is gone...and I'll continue to hold on to hope that she's alive. It appears that the entire Anthony family is living in a house of cards that was carelessly built. I pray for this family...there were obviously serious problems within their home before all of this happened.
I've been troubled by the story of who Caylee's father is. Based on Casey Anthony's plethera of lies I'm afraid this deceased gentleman's family is going to be put through a lot of heartache for naught. I've often wondered if one of the secrets the Anthony family is trying to hide is that they do know who Caylee's father is.
Posted by: MeLissa | August 18, 2008 at 05:30 PM
I believe she can still be charged with murder even without a body if they have sufficient evidence to convict her. Evidence like blood/DNA, decomposition of a human in the trunk of the car she was driving, even her attitude are all admissible in court. If they can build a strong enough case against her it could go to trial and be in the hands of a jury.
Posted by: Angie | August 18, 2008 at 05:44 PM
I Think this is rediculous for them to release her! What about a lie detector test? I seen something on the botton of the tv screen about a pair of pants and a shirt and a yellow sandle being found in the woods along with two book bags. Did this have to do with this case? It was on the bottom of the screen at the same time casey was being talked about?

At first i was extremely ticked off that Casey could be getting out of jail, but then I thought about it and I agree with the bounty hunter Padilla, we haven't found out a thing from Casey over the last 34 days. Her parents and brother continue to be in denial by feeding into her lies or are they? I think with an ex-cop's and a nurses's cooperation,(George & Cindy)the Anthonys may just pull this all off and Casey will only be charged with involuntary manslaughter. Look back over all the public interviews, statements, 911 calls, etc. Both Casey and her family have been staging a real production. The Anthonys play their part as the unconditional loving parents/grandparents searching for thier granddaughter while daughter/mother Casey stays mum. Why have the grandparents always been adamant that there is a Zenaida out there? Their daughter supposedly could never hurt Caylee. Remember Scott Peterson giving his tv interview as a supposed grieving husband and father to be,which later paid a key role in his prosecution? The Anthonys also exhibit the same certain arrogance. Cindy and George feed the public lies while Caylee doesn't cooperate. I just can't believe they have Nancy Grace and Greta fooled. From the start the Anthony's mentioned the words immunity, trial, etc. etc. That's why the Anthony's have never stopped acting as if they believe their daughter is completely innocent. It's important for Casey's future defense in a trial. An ex-cop and a nurse are intelligent people. Remember the 911 call when Cindy said I just found my daughter who has been missing for a month? Yet in the Anthony's FOX interview with Greta, George and Cindy both said they saw Casey on June 24th re: the gas can story. Funny how George reports the gas cans on 6/24 10am and a few hours later they see Casey and she has them. Which the cops later confiscate. Remember the Anthony's picked up the car, and they both smelled the decompostion, what happens...Cindy washes all the evidence. Make no mistake it's a family plot from the start. I think Lee did break Casey down that night, and she did tell him what happened, if not that night soon after. Mom and Dad didn't want to lose Casey too so they all concocted a story of a missing child. Remember too Cindy said at the bond hearing that her and Casey that night spent 2 hours setting up a website for Caylee. If Cindy supposedly drove around earlier in the day looking for Casey, why wouldn't all the Anthony's hop in the car and go over to Sawgrass apartments, and tearing that community upside down, knocking on doors to find Caylee? That's why the grandparents insisted on giving a very public birthday party for Caylee's, continued to give non-stop interviews to the media, tours of their house and backyard to Greta, pulled along a billboard sign when only their daughter can really find Casey. Lee backed right off with his supposed investigation into her friends and cell phone use. Why is each Anthony family member holding their own investigation anyway? I wonder who the well known journalist is that got in touch with Anthony's attorney, Baez? Is it Geraldo Rivera? Is it Great Van Sustern? If I'm wrong and it's not all a plot,I do think Padilla will get Casey to talk eventually, and Casey will finally break down and admit to him that there was a terrible accident. That's why Casey has been cancelling visits with her family because the Anthony family either doesn't want to slip up during their conversations, or Casey doesn't want them to know. Better to not have any contact. Notice the timing of recent events: Casey's hearing is scheduled for 8/21, Padilla the bounty hunter arrives Sunday to spring her out a couple of days before her hearing, the family has stopped talking to the media and have a spokesperson, Casey will confess to an accident to Padilla before her hearing I think. Or law enforcement will hand down a murder indictment real soon. If so, all of the Anthony's are accessories after the fact I tink! Don't think recent events were arranged without Casey's parents' permission either. Remember grandma Cindy mentioned needing a safe house a couple weeks back before Padilla's involvement was even mentioned?
Posted by: Crime Junkie Mama | August 18, 2008 at 06:37 PM
I think that Casey left Caylee in the car overnight while she was partying and fell asleep. When she finally awoke she went to her car around 10am to 12pm and found her daughter dead (from the heat). She got scared and tried to cover her tracks my first burying her daughter and thought that if they dont find Caylees body, she could never be convicted. She then went and unburied Caylee and then with the gas from her father, she cremated Caylee. I can not believe she has not cracked yet....But she will, no one can live with that kind of guilt for long......
Posted by: momma | August 18, 2008 at 07:22 PM
It would be good to torture Casey a bit to get the truth out of her finally, dont you, guys, think?
Posted by: The evil witch | August 18, 2008 at 09:40 PM
I too was pissed when I heard that Padilla was springing Casey from jail, but the more I thought about I say GREAT! Let her out! The Anthony's have been able to hide behind the "convenience" of Casey being behind bars. She can't talk to authorties because she's "protecting her family from the evilness that has Caylee". They can't get anymore "information" from her because she is, in fact, behind bars. Spring her, give Casey her freedom and then let's see what happens. Let's see what BS the family comes up with now. She'll be able to speak "freely" and really put a concerted effort into "finding" her daughter. We all know that's her main concern.
*** my 2 cents - I don't think she intentionally murdered her child. I do think that Caylee is dead and that it was a direct result of her mom's negligence. She freaked out and didn't know how to handle whatever the situation was and did a very stupid thing by disposing of the body herself. She is a very self-absorbed shameful liar and the real crime is the fact that she has wasted the precious time and money of so many helpful volunteers and authorities by continuing to let them exhaust themselves looking for a child that SHE KNOWS won't be found. For that fact alone she should rot in prison. And is it just me or does Cindy need a slap in the face and poor George needs to repeat high school or something. The guy seems slow.
bye

I think Casey went awol for a month after she accidently killed Caylee or Caylee accidently died and she panicked.
Being in some weird state of shock she just tried to continue on and in some way (self denial) make out nothing had happened. I think Cindy was panicking...where's Caylee?..Wheres's Casey? What's going on? When she did find Casey and Casey wouldn't give her any rational answers, she might have guessed what possibly could have happened. BUT remember her Casey id HER DAUGHTER...of course she will do all that she can to protect her....I'm sure Cindy feels incredibly torn in this situation as she obviously loved Caylee very much. I think people are being very hard on Casey's family...of course they have to support her - any parent would even though it must be breaking their hearts!

Personally I think that this bounty hunter is just bailing casey anthony out of jail, because of his reality show, and out of his own mouth he said he is a media whore. I think the judge in this case should look into why this bounty hunter want to bail her out.
Posted by: chevjuls | August 19, 2008 at 07:38 AM
I think casey anthony should stay in jail because she kill her daughter, she should not be release and they should charge her for murder, her own mother said her daughter car smell like death.

I just that people can feel sorry for this girl. Why are they not worring about what shes not telling the police. UNREAL We should be outraged.
Posted by: Angel | August 19, 2008 at 11:56 AM
I can't believe our generation is so easy to let her play this out. She is coning everyone. She has lied the whole time. this is becoming to common it makes me sick. This is UNREAL that our system is letting her get away with this. I am so angury about how everyone is tip toeing around the real questions. The people that feel sorry for her get real you must be living in some fantesy world. If our system let's the evil person get away with conning everyone then I believe our system is broken.

This woman does NOT deserve to be out on bail. Her eyes are full of evil.
Posted by: Brenda | August 19, 2008 at 12:49 PM
I think the Anthony family is 'acting' as though they think Casey is innocent in an attempt to get Casey to tell them where Caylee is. Casey freaked out on Cindy over the phone after she gave an interview after Casey was first arrested (listen to first taped phone conversation from jail). After that happened, the entire Anthony family did a 360 about their support for Casey, I think this was under the advisement of the investigators. This is a desperate attempt on the families part to find this poor little girl, dead OR alive. They have hired a spokesperson because of this media CIRCUS that has surrounded this case - every word they say is disected. I really doubt they had anything to do with this - someone else would have been arrested at this point, and they have been trying to cooperate with investigators. Remember, they are trying to deal with this terrible situation along with the media following EVERY SINGLE move they make. I am hoping this Padilla person is not just in it for the attention, I really hope they can get Casey to talk - she is the only single person that can get them back to Caylee. She is not as smart as she thinks she is, and this whole thing is just a guise to get her to finally talk. She will not be free for long.
Posted by: law | August 19, 2008 at 01:39 PM
I think "Evil Witch" has it right. The case was/is definitely stalemated by Casey being in jail. Once she is out, I believe her parents are going to want some real answers which I don't believe she will be able to provide. Once they are no longer in denial, things will start to open up. I am hoping the police don't up the charges and keep her in, because then we will never find out what happened to Caylee. I am also wondering about all of the DNA, air sample, clothing results--because if the police found clear evidence that Caylee is dead, wouldn't they have upped the charges by now? I would loe it if Caylee was alive, but I think the greater likelihood is that she died, probably accidentally, and mom has totally disassociated (at best) or is a sociopath.

Finally, a valid use for waterboarding....
Posted by: lorac | August 19, 2008 at 04:40 PM
I strongly disagree with you, law. I believe the Anthony's have everything to do with this. They have vehemently denied from day 2 that Casey was involved in the disappearance of their granddaughter, and have defended her to the hilt to the media. I'm not buying it.
If it were MY family member missing, I would not stick around the house and make rounds with reporters while taking out the trash. I would be combing woods and spending every daylight hour looking. These people are clueless and disgusting and they should all be locked up until one of them cracks.
Posted by: justagirl | August 19, 2008 at 04:42 PM
I think the family is acting like they believe Casey for two reasons. The first one being of course, they hope beyond all hope that their grandaughter is alive and that Casey hasn't done something horrible to her. Secondly, I believe that they want to stay in Casey's "good graces" so she doesn't cut off all communication with them. It is kind of like when you don't like your son or daughter in law but you act like you do so you can see your grandchildren.
Casey gets very indignant with her family and friends when she is confronted with her lies. That is the power she has over them right now-they need the truth and answers and of course she isn't going to tell them the truth so she continues to lead them down this kidnapping path and anytime they try to get off the path and insinuate she isn't being truthful or that something doesn't seem right she flips out, and threatens to retreat. This is typical behavior of a guilty person who is lying.
I don't think the parents are involved in a coverup or anything sinister when it comes to Caylee. I think they are under an enormous amount of stress and are just devastated. Talk about a parent's worst nightmare!
I also don't think Casey will ever fess up-even if they find Caylee dead(god forbid) and find DNA evidence that links Casey to her murder. I think she is similar to Scott Peterson. She will plead not guilty to the very end.
Posted by: Bella | August 19, 2008 at 05:35 PM
I agree with Tarah. I think Casey left her in the car while she was, "working" or whatever you want to call it, and Caylee died from heat exposure or injury. I hope I'm wrong, but NONE of this story makes sense to me. It will be interesting to see how it all comes out. To me, it reminds me of when I was little and my parents had to take our old dog, "Out to the country to live on a nice farm". I think Casey is in fantasy country farm land saying her daughter went to the beach with a nice babysitter.

I think that the public is been fooled 2 many times in the past by these major media missing persons reports, & now just assume that EVERYONE IN THE WORLD DID IT!! ie. the Anthonys. John & Patsy Ramsey(who were found innocent-2 bad they r both dead now 2 get their glory) got pretty much expelled from society for little Jon Benet, Susan Smith....she's the bottom of the barrel. Then S.Peterson,,,well, he just flat-out abused millions of concerned americans w/his dirty little secret. For those of u that think the Anthonys have had ANYTHING to do with Calyees goin missing is maybe got their britches cinched up just a bit too tight. You can clearly hear Cindys unwinding over her 911 calls. She begins as a mother who is tired of looking for this belligerent child of hers whom she may has had a few run ins within the past month/month 1/2. Her child evidently didn't follow through SOME sort of rules about taking the car, not paying back any of the stolen money, not letting her see Caylee, whatever, & she FINALLY had her in her grasp, & decided to be a REAL PARENT, & MAKE THE CALL. That is one VERY fed up mother u got on the first call. She doesn't focus too much on Caylee, cuz she hasn't gotten a correct answer. Duh....It's cuz shes BEING LIED TO BY A NARCISSIST verbal vomit strewer!!! Shes(Casey) doin to her parents what she is doing to police-shes just got some wild hamsters runnin around loose in her immature mind, & every time she opens her mouth, stupid hairballs start coming out of it. Do the USA a favor-lets spend some TAX $$$ & just sew her lips QUICK. Nothing useful is going to come out of them anyhow. Shes just being "dumb as a fox" for the now, & for the here to come. Second call, mom is still being firm about bring police into the situation. She has been goin crazy listening to her childs stories, & has reached her breaking point! She wants answere, & lil'o miss ostrich with her head in the ground is making her mom go more insane listening to her stories. Heck-she(Casey) has even exhausted police officers over listening to her lies!! Give Cindy a medal! Third call-things FINALLY begin to unravel. Now the car crap story is over, she isn't believing the "Casseys with such & so" story, she wants an answer, &, THAT IS WHEN SHE FOUND OUT! She was so distraught, it was gut-wrentching to hear. I know people lie & some are FANTASTIC at it. I am not one of those persons. I feel if were it me & my daughter in that situation-shes here, shes gone, what she taken now, wheres the baby, is she ok, her trying to avoid me for over a month, being very vague about any questions of my grandchild....I would have quite likely come across alot like Cindy. She cares, is sincere, & is hurting. She would cut off her left leg trying 2 b nice 2 her daughter at this poing just praying 2 get ANY INFO ON CAYLEE THAT SHE CAN!
I believe the parents, but CASEY KNOWS! CASEY KNOWS! CASEY KNOWS! CASEY KNOWS! CASEY KNOWS! CASEY KNOWS!

I am sorry, but there is NO little 3yr.old white girl wondering around Florida or ANYWHERE IN THE US that is just waiting to be saved. Caylee is no longer among the living. Her pure soul is now free, but her body lies SOMEWHERE! Her mental mother had EVERYTHING to do with this case, & I hate to say it, but at least Susan Smith had the sense of security & guidance to spill her childrens woeful tale. Still, SICKO=SICKO...perhaps they can become penpals...

My husband is a hunter. Big deal, right? Last year, he killed one, gutted & did the "usual" stuff that u do 4 that. Brought it home in pieces in the back of our pathfinder. Apparently, there was a small tear in the bag that leaked out "stuff"-liquid only. Well, the next day, I began 2 notice a very unpleasnt smell. By the end of the next 4 days, u couldn't even drive it. All the windows down & everything. It was like the neighbor hood had collected all the dirty diapers that they could find, & filled our car with them. We tracked it down to just a tiny blood patch in the back. That little bit of rotting, bacteria filled, decomposition of blood was the MOST VILE thing u could imaging. Now, imagine it not being a tiny patch of deer blood, but a small helpless child. &,,,,now imagine, the person that caused this is going 2 b set free within the next few hours!! YEY!! Our judicial system SUCKS!!!!

i hope the focus on Jay Blanchard park in Orlando has not taken the focus off the remote area by the Orlando Airport. It seems to me a lot of articles of interest have shown up in JBP, since a report of the pings at the remote area by the airport, a lot of the articles do not look that old for the number of days that Caylee has been missing. seems to raise a few questions for me?????

Hey Jill, I agree with you about Cindy Anthony. She's between a rock and a hard place and I'm not sure how many of us would present well under those circumstances. I thought George finally seemed sincere when he yelled shut up, shut up at the media--because they suggested that Caylee was dead, (accidentally or otherwise) because the thought was too painful and he wants to believe they/we are wrong. That said, they do seem like a screwed up household and Cindy is remarkably unlikeable--though not as much as her daughter. If Casey is truly a sociopath, which I think she is, they have had a difficult time as parents. Not to mention, sociopathy is probably genetic and the question is where/who did it come from? George and Cindy? or perhaps the previous generation? We haven't heard anything from great-grandparents --if they are not deceased, where are they?
Other things we don't know -- the real father of Caylee -- all we have to go on is what Casey says and we know what that is worth.
I sure hate it when people make physical threats to any and all of the people involved in this. I understand how frustrating it is...but it is just adding to the violence we are protesting.
PS, this message is from lorac--my last messages were posted, incorrectly, under law, and his or hers under lorac. I'm not sure sure how that happens but hopefully it is a glitch that is done with!

4 Justagirl...are u a parent at all? I have 2 daughters, & 2 stepsons ranging from 6-24. Anyone who is a parent would likely agree that your most dominant position is to want to protect your own child, but, at the expense of other loved ones???? ESPECIALLY a gift of a grandchild??? Cindy is ALL TOO AWARE of how much her daughter is mentally messed up-she has moved on, & now HER ONLY CONCERN is for Caylee. She(Cindy)is NOT involved in the disappearance of this beautiful little girl AT ALL.....have a heart & relisten to her 911 calls as she unravels....she is hurting!
Also, I have been listed as Jill, & dont know why, but, its still me pfeagans....dont know why listing name changes 4 me either

This whole case is crazy. Hard to keep all of the 'facts' straight. I hope nothing happens to Casey when she gets out, the location of where Caylee is (dead or alive) will be completetly lost...

personally I believe she did it or had help, whatever but on nancy grace that aired on the 17th thurs. the footer noted verbatim "tot killer had an accomplice." and that her bondsmen believes she had help, and that law enforcement are looking in an alligator infested swamp area. Has anyone heard anything about the case that has just come about? Why would they label her "tot killer" all of a sudden when they have been labeling her as "tot mom." Has there been any more leads or people come foward? They would have announced it if she has addmitted anything to law enforcement I believe. Is is considered slander on the media if she has not been convicted yet?
