Serial Killer Larry Bright Liked to Bury His Victims in His Mother's Backyard!

April 30, 2008

Larry_brightPeoria, Illinois serial killer Larry Bright, 38-years-old at the time of his arrest, was a momma's boy.  He liked to watch the news with her nearly every day, and even though he became excited when the news of one of his kills was splashed across the television screen, he became nervous that his mother might detect the thrill and exhilaration that he always experienced during those mother and son moments.  He worried that she might have seen the boxes of hardcore pornography that he kept hidden beneath his bed, or that she may have accidentally seen the pornographic images on his computer that depicted black women being raped and injured from his Internet downloads, but he nonetheless continued using such devices to help fuel his fantasies.

While many of the victims that he had murdered on his 15-month killing spree that began in July 2003 and lasted until late 2004 had been found along rural roads in Peoria and Tazewell Counties, which were those that were being found and shown on the nightly news, several of his victims' remains were buried in his mother's backyard after he had burned their bodies in bonfires inside a large fire pit near what would become their final resting places.  In fact, Bright had spent so much time in his mother's backyard with a shovel that some of his neighbors had nicknamed him "Digger."  But the victims that he had buried there had not shown up on the evening news—yet.

Larry Bright had spent time in prison in his youth for stealing cars and committing burglaries, and life behind bars seemed to have changed him for the worse.  After getting out of prison, he began using cocaine and drinking in excess.  He had also obtained a job with a building contractor, but he had injured his back on the job which had required a number of surgeries that had not fixed the problem and left him disabled, or so he would have people believe.  Presumably physically unable to work and addicted to painkillers, Bright became depressed.  Even though living at home with his mother, he began picking up prostitutes and would joke with his drinking pals that he planned on taking them home to meet his mom.  Even though he took the hookers home, he never introduced them to his mother.  He had already rendered them helpless with drugs and, often after sex, flew into a rage and...

Christopher Lee McCuin Cooked Parts of His Girlfriend, Jana Shearer

April 29, 2008

Another bizarre crime involving body parts and the potential for cannibalism occurred earlier this year in Tyler, Texas.  Instead of finding a down-home outdoor Texas barbecue when sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call at a home in this East Texas municipality on Saturday, January 5, 2008, they made a gruesome gastronomic discovery that was cooking on the stovetop inside.  According to the police, Christopher Lee McCuin, 25, killed his girlfriend, Jana Shearer, 21, cooked parts of her body on the stove inside his mother's home, and called 911 to inform them of what he had done.  Deputies were aghast when they found human ears boiling in a pot, and a piece of flesh stuck to the end of a fork in a plate on the kitchen table.  They also found the rest of the woman's body in another part of the home.  Based on the information that McCuin provided to the authorities during the 911 call, investigators had reason to believe that he may have eaten—or at least attempted to eat—portions of Shearer's body.  However, whether he had actually consumed parts of her body was not clear at the time, according to the authorities.

"We cannot prove that he did," said Smith County Sheriff J.B. Smith.  "He was either going to, had been, or led us to think that he was doing it."

McCuin, of course, was arrested on the spot.  Although he had at first gone willingly with the arresting deputies, he had to be placed in additional restraints because he allegedly...

The Bizarre Case of Stanley Lusty and Sara Tuckey

April 28, 2008

In a bizarre case involving pedophilia, prostitution, and homicide that was wrapped up earlier this year, Stanley Lusty, 64, a father of seven, has been locked up for life in the United Kingdom for murdering his Gloucester prostitute roommate, Sara Tuckey, 34, in April 2007 to prevent her from telling what she knew about his life as a pedophile.  Lusty allegedly bludgeoned Tuckey to death in the Parliament Street home they shared, using a sledgehammer after she threatened to go public about his history as an abuser of young girls.  He also stabbed her in the throat.  According to court proceedings, Lusty had been threatening to throw Tuckey out of their flat, purportedly because of her drug use and the fact that she ruthlessly took advantage of his concerns about his past in order to have a place to live.  Lusty attacked Tuckey as she slept.

On the last few days of Tuckey's life, she and Lusty had quarreled over a camera of Lusty's that Tuckey had purportedly pawned.  Lusty also claimed that she had attacked him and had given him a black eye, which is when he had asked her to leave in no uncertain terms.  But she refused, and the angst continued to build between them over the next few days.  On the day that she died...
