First of all, there is no terrible side bred in to pits Mrs. Hunter. I have 2 pits and a black lab and my lab is more likely to bite someone than my pits. Every dog has a personality no matter the breed. Its all in its training and up bringing. All my dogs are great but my lab is 13 years old and cant hear and has cataracts and I would be more concerned about her with a stranger than my pits. My pits would let you right in the front door to steal everything I own as long as you pet them on the way. I actually tried to adopt a dog from Villalobos before I got my pup last Christmas and they wouldnt give me the time of day because I was pregnant. Well now I have a 6 month old pup and a 3 month old baby and all is well. My kids are great and my dogs are awesome. The pup I got has such a mellow loving personality and even though she wasnt the rescue I had my heart set on Misty is a welcome member of our family. So here is a thought Tia.... you talk so much about second chances and giving these dogs you love so much a good home you really screwed a dog over passing me up. Could have had a great forever home for one of your dogs with a yard and kids and tons of love and training but I didnt get the chance. Its ok though, Misty thanks you cuz she loves us! Just a thought..... in 10 years when I'm ready for another dog, if your still around, give me a chance. I might still want to try to adopt instead of buying another one. Either way I'm a pit advocate and lifetime owner so I will have one either way. I was just trying to do a good thing by giving a needy dog a good home instead of buying one. Too bad it didnt work out

The one thing that is sad is the way pit bulls are used and treated in Detroit. It is not unusual to drive down a street and see pit bulls chained up in a yard with a lack of clean and adequate living conditions.
The dogs are used as status symbols and watch dogs for drug houses. A lot of are sed for fighting which brings in big money with bets and a good place to purchase drugs.
Last year I had one that was running loose grab my Whippet and tear open his left fland. It took major surgery to repair the leg. After all of this I still feel pit bulls are what they are by the gene pool have and lack of love.
My breed is the Doberman PInscher which also still gets a bad rap as a dangerous dog. Not as bad as the pit but bad.
I must say I respect your show and never miss a episode. I respect you for the work you due to tell the real story of the breed. It is sad that so many do not understand why certain breeds are tagged as dangerous dogs. Hopefully your show why the breed is tagged with a reputation it does not deserve. People have created some of the breeds we have by design. It is sad that we have so many sick breeders that are willing to destroy a breed for money and profit.
I can only hope that you and your crew keep up the good work and bless you all for what you do. I also feel you assist many young men find a better life through animals. Nothing can match th love affair between man and dog. The best.to all of you.

It is not always the breed or dog itself but up to the owner to teach and train the dog to be and do good. I love this show becuse it shows that there are people out there to change a bad thing and give a dog with a bad rep. a new lease on life.

The views expressed in Jamie Hunter's post are the same as racism in the human world. The number of pit bull attacks versus the total number of pit bulls is very small. The media loves sensationalism & doesn't show all of the pit bulls who are members of families & best friends to children. My pittie loved our son until she passed from cancer. Look at the statistics on the American Temperament Society's website. Pit bulls have consistently scored higher than many popular breeds, including Golden Retrievers. I have had pit bulls my entire adult life, not because of their negative image but because they're the most abused domestic animal. I have empathy for them, have been a member of a pit bull meetup & have seen nothing but sweethearts. These shows are trying to reflect that & counter the media's exaggeration. Refusing to see it, Jamie, is the definition of ignorance.

There is bad and good in every bread. Just like humans. To me that is very prejudice. Like you never here of any other breeds attacking. We dont say a child that turned out trouble should be destroyed. There is such a thing called rehabilitation!!!! What do you think these amazing people on the show are doing..

I think that this show should not be airing. There is a terrible side to pit bulls, it is bred into them, that will snap at some point. I was the victim of a pit bull in 2012 that has left me scarred in many ways and no one is racing to save me or give me aid. The owners got off scott free and there are people who glamorize these dogs. Destroy them.
