Did Your Pet Hit the Jackpot With You? [PETFINDER]
By: Jodi Westrick
If you've ever adopted a pet, you know how great it feels to give a furry friend a forever home.
But have you ever stopped to think just how lucky your pet feels that you were the one to adopt him?
Our friends at Petfinder are ringing in 2013 by celebrating the luckiest adopted pets around. And they want YOU to share your pet adoption stories and why you think your pet won the jackpot the day you chose to adopt them.
All you have to do is hop over to Petfinder and share your pet's story: what was life like before he met you? Just how pampered is your furry friend? Tell them and you'll have the chance to win a $500 Petco giftcard for your pet and a $5,000 donation to the Petfinder adoption group of your choice.

We adopted Sparky 8 years ago in January :)
He was about 6 month old, a scarry mix terrier/schnautzer, shy with strangers, but full of life. We think he was abused because he had a big scar on his back, and he is still shy with strangers, but with us, his family, and our friends, he is so playful and full of life, running and playing and making us laugh every day :) he give us kisses when we ask him, he knows all kind of tricks, and he is very smart and beautiful, and I think he knows it :) he gave us 8 years of fun, and we are looking forward for many, many more. now he came next to me on the couch, ready for a belly scratch, staying on his back with the legs stright up and looking at me. Now momy, now? :)

Our rescue long-haired chihuahua pup Marteeny was 3ish when we adopted her. She was abused severely for those previous years. 2 different family Vets had never saw a pup so traumatized. She didn't even know what soft was. She hid in our kitchen corner for 6 months only going potty every 3 days on pee pads. We worked with her every day. One day when I was home after surgery she just jumped into bed and nursed me back to health. We also have a rescue kitty and they are now "sisters" She also snuggled me all 9 months on bed rest pregnant and now loves her human brother. She is spoiled, but how can you not with a great pup! She now has a big yard to play, loves treats, but still has some brain issues from the abuse making playing hard. She is an amazing pup who has made our lives better along with her kitty sister.
