Adopt-a-Palooza: Animal Planet & Petfinder Help Pets Find Forever Homes!

Recently Animal Planet teamed up with Petfinder for Adopt-A-Palooza – an event created to place adorable animals with their forever homes. More than 30 dogs and cats – and one rabbit – were brought by eight local shelters. During the course of the two hour event, seven cats and two dogs were adopted, and several more applications for dog adoptions were submitted!

Adopt-A-Palooza was part of our larger R.O.A.R. (Reach Out. Act. Respond.) initiative to help animals and inspire people to help through donating, shopping (a portion of the proceeds goes to helping our partner charities), and volunteering. The event was open to the public, but even Discovery employees couldn’t resist the cute:

"I had been considering adopting a cat for a couple of years but kept putting it off. When I heard about the ROAR Pet Adoption event I told myself, and everyone around me, that I was not going to adopt and to not let me change my mind! However, as soon as I saw Toby quietly lounging in his crate, I knew that he was coming home with me. When we got home that evening, he settled in perfectly and acted like he'd lived there his whole life. He's a total sweetheart and I'm so glad I was able to adopt him." - Helen Casteel, Sales & Mktg Coordinator, Domestic Distribution.

Not all the pets in attendance were for adoption. Some came sporting their Halloween costumes...

...and some came as a tribute to past events where they had once attended as a pet seeking their forever home. Such as Sassy ...

"I was excited to bring Sassy to the event and show her off. I had adopted her from Lucky Dog Shelter at the last adoption event held at Discovery. The moment I saw her it was love at first sight!” - Vicki Lowell, SVP, Marketing and Operations for Animal Planet.

In addition to the adorable pets at this event, we had tasty dog-bone-shaped cookies, products on sale from Animal Planet, information about the R.O.A.R. initiative and partners, a dog tag machine for custom pet tags, and much more.
