Before It's Too Late - The Plight of the Asian Bears
A series of videos called "The Plight of the Asian Bears" has been gaining attention on YouTube in recent weeks. The videos, presented by the Storyteller Media Group — an independent documentary production company in Australia — in cooperation with the World Society for the Protection of Animals spotlight the practice of harvesting bear bile for traditional Asian medicine. We felt that you, our audience, should see them.
There are four parts to this video series. This, the final video, follows the confiscation of two Asiatic black bears from a private home in northern Cambodia. The bears were destined for a bile farm, where they would have been confined to small cages and milked for their bile. In a matter of months, their gall bladder would collapse. Then, the animals would be killed and their meat, fur, paws and what remains of their gall bladder would be sold.
The World Society for the Protection of Animals is one organization committed to helping these bears and stopping the gall bladder trade.
