Baby Elephant - Maryland Zoo in Baltimore

There are few things more precious than a young baby taking their first steps toward independence. It's a difficult task for any infant, but when you're born three feet tall and weigh over 200 pounds it can make those first steps all the more awkward (yet entertaining to watch).

Young Zebra vs. African Lioness

We always like rooting for an underdog and enjoy seeing the unexpected. Predation is never pretty, but essential for the survival of many animals. In this case, our hungry young lioness will be looking elsewhere for her meal.

British Shorthair Kittens Dancing

A family of british short-haired kittens dance to the theme song from Crusha, a television ad for, what else, milk mix. Very cute.

Anaconda Regurgitates a Tapir

You can always trust your ever-reliable "Best Animal Videos of the Web" curator to come through with the most nausea-inducing, gross-out, nasty, disgusting animal content on the web.

Well, not always. We do prefer the cute stuff, but we couldn't pass up an opportunity to get this stomach-churning video more exposure. The giant snake in the video is an anaconda, the world's heaviest snake. The poor creature coming out of its mouth is actually a tapir, not a hippo as the original title of the video proclaims. Anacondas: South American. Hippos: African. K? K. Tapirs are hippo-like creatures that live right next door to anacondas, and sometimes inside them -- but not for very long.

Let's say it all together now: "Eeewwwwwww!!!"

Cute Puppy Whistle

Most dogs will respond to whistling, but only the most super-special dogs try to whistle back. Like this little pup, who barely has its eyes open but can whistle the cows home with the best of them. If this isn't the cutest thing you see all day, well, then you must be surrounded by whistling puppies.

Ferret Stealing Wireless Mouse

Been caught stealing a mouse that wasn't alive
I enjoy stealing, even mechanical rats
Well it's just a simple fact
When I want mouses I don't wanna risk gettin' bit

Well I drag them across the floor
Drag them across the floor
Then under the couch, and they're mine
Mine all mine!

My mom, she's got no clue
She'll go and try to work, then get up and blurt
"Where can my mouse be?"
And she said it just like that
But when I want mouses I don't wanna risk gettin' bit

Well I drag them across the floor
Drag them across the floor
Then under the couch, and they're mine
Mine all mine!

(Lots of Patience?)

There's something very cute about pushing your pet's patience to the limits. There's also something diabolical about it. But only slightly. Prolonged rewards are always worth waiting for, and we bet those treats tasted extra yummy once these ever-patient animals were allowed to dig in. Just don't try this at home if your dog (or chimpanzee) is of the "biting fingers along with food" variety.

Pooh Bear Sings for His Supper

If you want to hear the cutest sound in the entire world, you must get a guinea pig and then deprive it of food. We know it sounds cruel, but be merciless. No tasty grasses, no scrumptious veggies, no delicious pellets, nothing. If you want cuteness, borderline starvation and a whole lot of patience are the keys. The following video is proof that the method works. (But seriously, right after the super-cute squeaking, feed your poor guinea pig.)

The Guinea Pig Way

Top Five Problems with This Video:

1. It's too short.

2. The guinea pig is too cute for words, possibly leading to permanent cuteness brain damage.

3. Guinea pig language is too fast for humans to decipher on first pass, requiring multiple viewings.

4. The guinea pig chorus is a bit... frightening, perhaps?

5. Timothy hay? What's that? C'mon!!

The Superhero Dolphin Who Helps Save Lives

Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes... and apparently, some even come dolphin-shaped. Recently, off the coast of New Zealand, a bottle-nosed dolphin named Moko put aside her so-called animal instincts to rescue two members of a completely different species, the pygmy whale. The amazing Moko — well-known along this stretch of coastline in northern New Zealand — guided a stranded pygmy whale and her calf to the edge of a sandbar, then negotiated a tricky righthand turn through a narrow channel to lead them to open waters. Note that biologists were about to put the pair out of their misery. This may be the first recorded instance of a non-human species rescuing another species. Moko, well done. Well done my friend.
