Sea Lion Rides Sea Turtle

Just saw this video over at another great site for Animal Oddities, icanhascheezburger.com.  It shows a baby Galapagos sea lion getting a ride down the beach in a rather unconventional way.

 

 

The little sea lion, being a warm-blooded mammal, has some extra energy to burn and looks like he's just in a playful mood.  The green sea turtle, however, doesn't look all that pleased at the sea lion's notion of play.

I've been to Galapagos before on one of the National Wildlife Federation's Expeditions and I can say from first hand experience that it's a surreal experience to encounter wildlife that has such little fear of people, from sea lions like the one in the video, to marine iguanas that look like miniature Godzillas, giant Galapagos tortoises and the infamous and strange blue-footed boobies.
