Duckling vs. Pit Bull
03/07/2011
The Pet Postcard Project recently posted this riveting video to their Facebook page of a tiny duckling cluelessly approaching a pit bull. It's one of those videos that you watch with bated breath, fearing the worst outcome. Check out the video to see what happens to the duckling as a result of its audaciousness.
I love how the duck nibbles the dog's nose! It just goes to show that the term "bully breed" isn't always accurate and that a dog's behavior is largely the result of how it is raised and treated by humans. If you like pit bulls, be sure to check out Animal Planet's two series devoted to the breed, Pit Boss and Pit Bulls and Parolees.

Give it sometime it will KILL it!!!

"Hello giant new friend. I shall make you pretty!"
No Carla, it will not kill the duckling given enough time. I hate people like you. So closed minded. You should try that with humans. Go into a group of big buff black guys and scream the N word. See where that level of ignorance gets you. I had a pit bull. She never once hurt my cats or the babies we looked after for friends. They're no worse than any other dog, and frankly I've come across some very vicious dogs in the past. All small breeds, never large breeds like a pit bull. But, since they're small and can't hurt anybody nobody cares that they're so vicious. They find it cute.

Carla, you're an idiot.

Oh how cute! Carla, animals are like children. It's all in how they are raised. Kindness, love, gentleness are all taught just as cruelty, ill-temper, violence are taught. Dogs really are amazing because in these situations, if you remain calm, the dog will too. They feed off of our emotions and actions.

Mew - I couldn't agree more! It's sad to see how people stereotype this breed. Even worse is knowing they are forced to fight when they only want is love. Carla needs to get adjusted. But, yes, let her scream that word in a roomful of buff men - she deserves what she gets.

Yeah Carla, that duck'll TOTALLY kill that dog! Look how vicious it is! Trying to eat the dog's face without even killing it first, THAT takes guts.

What a cute video. It really shows people how sweet the breed is. Caria, unless you have ever had a Pit Bull than you shouldn't judge. I have a 5 yr old female pit (Ava) and she is the best dog we have ever had. I brought a kitten home a year ago and Ava treated it like it was her baby. She has a very gentle mouth and loves the cat she is now. I am not waiting for her to kill the cat, because she is not mean. Most Pit Bulls are not aggresive. The attacks you hear about in the news are hyped up to make them news worthy, but they never talk about the history of the dog and how it was treated. I find it very sad that you would get on here and make a nasty comment about the breed when the video gives you no reason to believe that the dog will be mean. It was a sweet video that was cute to watch. The end. So like I said before, unless you have ever had the breed don't judge and I bet then you wouldn't have made that comment. Don't be ignorant.

I have two pitties in my house- and I babysit all the time for my sister (who has 5 month old twins) my pitties are nothing but calm, sweetness and love bugs to EVERYONE! This video is crazy cute; once one of my pitties bough a stray kitten from outside and licked it clean in myliving room- as a matter of fact they both let the kitten play all over them. So Carla, yes- please become aware that it is how they are raised, by whom etc. Dogs like humans are born evil.

I wish people would give this breed a chance and not be so ignorant and judgemental.. i'm sure more than half of the people that talk bad about the breed have never even met one and listen to everything they hear on the news. I have owned MANY dogs in my life, (all rescued) from Labs, Golden Retrievers, Shepards to Yorkshire Terriers, Chihuahuas and the most gentle, affectionate dog I've owned was my pittie.. and I'm sure you'd never guess, was my 9 year old Chihuahua was the most aggressive dog I've owned YET, She was dog and human aggressive and had to be separated from my other dogs and locked up when there i had company.
Carla, people like you are why this world is so F#&@%D UP today.

I think everyone needs to remember that this is a website that draws a lot of children and make sure your comments are something that can be said in front of kids...cussing, making degrading comments about others, making completely inappropriate remarks about other races...there is no place for that kind of speech here.

introduced a chick to a snake once. It ended badly ......for the snake.
By the time we rescuded the snake the little chicken ate it's right eye.
Thank god snakes do not hunt by sight.

I wrote my book Cajun On The Pits, because of the litter of pits I raised, whose father Chico displayed such a love of my baby kitten Amya (Mimi),(Art model cat), and continued to love her and all her kittens equally, to the sixth generation. So inspiring were Chico's sons who also loved Mimi's kittens that each became a story. Cajun On The Pits is about the Cujun music loving pitbulls whose joyful temperment makes them unlike heroes in the battle against the abused, mistreated, to spread a new love of the good pits as potential protectors & ideal pets PitPits

carla... i HATE people like you! so quick to judge and accuse. animals act how they are raised, just like humans. if you treat an animal bad, and raise it to hate... then it will hate. if you take and animal and LET it love, then it wouldn't harm anything except in defense. but you know what, why am i even telling you this? you are too ignorant to change your ways. next time, just don't even give you input. way to look like a fool in front of millions.

Putbulls have been genetically bred to fight and kill. I thought dachshunds were harmless too until one that we thought was "harmless" killed our pet rabbit on "accident".
I personally saw a putbull raised with care literally rip my cousins face off for no reason other than it wanted to.
They are dangerous animals, and don't deserve to exist. It's like keeping a pet tiger, you can't remove instinct.

Nick, seriously! Saying that they are genetically bred to fight and kill is ridiculous! it takes much more time to influence behavioral genetic structure than breeding can do. What you are referring to is "people" (read monsters) killing the puppies that won’t respond to their savage training methods.
Here is a question for you, since you are so good with genetics, what have dogs hunted for food before humans took them in? SMALL ANIMALS! Unless you teach ANY dog not to hunt small animals, they will. Dog->Cat->Mouse
As for your cousin, if this dog was truly raised with CARE, then the only reason it would attack your cousin is because it thought your cousin was a threat.
The fact is, pit bulls aren't any more aggressive than any normal dog.
Again, think before you speak!

I agree with everyone that says APBs are kind, gentle and loving but I also have to remind people that breeding does in fact have an influence on the dogs in general. I have had ABPs all of my life and rescued an APB at 10 weeks old that was from a line bred to have smaller heads and larger bodies for what is known as "pig hunting" in Florida. That dog hated anything with four "legs" (dogs, cats, cars, horses, etc) and was NEVER trained to attack anything. When we finally had to put him to sleep the vet told us that because of his smaller skull the pressure on his brain caused erratic behavior on his part. This is just a reminder that breeding does have an effect on the litter but doesn't make them necessarily evil.

What a great video! This is the kind of heartwarming video we all need to be watching right now - after the tragedy in Japan, we all need a reminder that, even in the dark times, there is still beauty in the world. Please don't waste time paying attention to the comments of someone like Carla - she just wants attention and has no experience with dogs, let alone pit bulls. And the attention you pay to her will detract from your enjoyment of the 2 cuties in the video clearly enjoying each others' company. :)
I did pit bull rescue for many years & they're one of my very favorite breeds - loving little goofballs their entire lives...

It all depends on how you raise the pit bull (or any animal). People that don't train, socialize & play with their pets should not own them.
Very cute except for the writing on the video itself.

After having a 3 year old shelter pit bull for over a year and a half, ours just walked up to me in the kitchen and leaped up to tear my throat out.Luckily she got my wrist, as I put my hands up in shock...and as she went for my leg and pushed me into the corner, my friend got her to go outside. That is why I am still alive. I keep the jeans with the tear in them to remind me that I DO NO, NOR WILL I EVER TRUST THIS BREED. I know she may have been mistreated in her past but you have to know she definitely was trying to kill me and that wouldn't sit well with ANYONE.
