"Dead" Dog on Letterman
09/02/2010
Apparently this is over a year old, but since I just saw it for the first time I figured some of you might not have seen it yet either. How cute, funny, and odd is this dog trick? I'm pretty certain that this guy didn't deliberately train his dog to do this, but rather encouraged the behavior with treats and other positive reinforcement. The question is, WHY would a dog do this all on its own the first time?

The answer will probably be because you want to pass your course or because you want to obtain a certain degree. So, now you can think of it as that you're choosing to do an excellent job on the assignment because that's what's going to help you achieve your final goal. It doesn’t matter if the other person helps or not now. This is something you want to do so you're going to do it no matter what.

Going limp is classic submissive behavior - what the dog is doing is just an extension of the classic "play dead," no?

Oh my gosh that is funny. If Bailey just closed his eyes it would be even more real.

It's funny that I stumbledupon this because I saw it live two years ago and the next day my math teacher said that this guy was one of his college buddies.

Relationship is the substance of our connections: things like family or blood relatives, as well as covenant relationship like marriage or adoption. Even beyond that, relationship can also be defined by association (church family, workplace, neighborhoods, students, etc.), or just the frequency in which we connect with people (if I see someone often, then I might say I have a relationship with them).

That dog must be really smart if he can "act" like that.

We actually saw this on TV. I thought it was amazing to see a dog actually be able to do that. How do you even try and train a pup to do that?

I wonder how long that must have taken the owner to train the dog to do that?
